SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Brighton & Hove
Start Date: September 2026 (Immediate Starts Available)
Contract: Full-Time / Part-Time Opportunities Available
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience

Academics is currently recruiting dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistants to support pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN) across a range of primary schools in Brighton & Hove.

This is a rewarding opportunity for individuals who are passionate about helping children overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential. You will work closely with class teachers, SENCOs, and school leadership teams to provide tailored support that enables pupils to thrive both academically and socially.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with a range of additional needs.

  • Support children with communication, social, emotional, and behavioural needs.

  • Assist in implementing individual learning plans and targeted interventions.

  • Encourage pupil engagement, independence, and confidence within the classroom.

  • Build positive relationships with pupils, staff, parents, and external professionals.

  • Help create a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
  • Experience working with children with SEN, either in a school or similar setting.

  • A patient, caring, and resilient approach.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • The ability to adapt support strategies to meet individual pupil needs.

  • A genuine passion for supporting children and young people.

  • Relevant qualifications or training in SEN support are desirable but not essential.
