We are seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join our team. This role is crucial in supporting the learning and development of our pupils with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). The successful candidate will assist in the classroom and work closely with teaching staff to implement educational programs and manage pupil behaviour.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Attend to the personal, social, and educational needs of pupils, including administering first aid and managing specific care programs.
- Implement agreed learning activities and teaching programs, making adjustments based on pupil responses and needs in collaboration with the teacher.
- Support the development and implementation of support plans, including Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
- Monitor and evaluate pupils' responses to learning activities, record achievements against objectives, and provide feedback to teachers.
- Prepare and maintain necessary equipment and resources to support individual learning needs, particularly for pupils with SEND.
- Manage pupil behaviour, promote positive values and attitudes, and encourage pupils to take responsibility for their behaviour.
- Liaise with parents, carers, and other professionals as required, ensuring sensitive and effective communication.
- Assist with the supervision of pupils outside of lesson times and during school trips as needed.
- Good numeracy and literacy skills.
- Experience working with or caring for SEN children.
- Ability to use basic IT and other technology to support learning.
- Knowledge of relevant policies, codes of practice, and awareness of legislation.
- Strong interpersonal skills, able to relate well to children and adults.
- Ability to work constructively as part of a team, understanding classroom roles and responsibilities.
- NVQ2 or equivalent in teaching assistance or relevant experience is desirable.
- First aid training and training in dealing with specific conditions or medical procedures is advantageous.
