Are you an experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) looking to secure a full-time role starting this September? Teaching Personnel is delighted to be supporting a specialist provision in Wigan that caters for pupils aged 7–16 years with additional learning needs, including SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health), autism, and behavioural needs.

The Role
As a Full-time HLTA, you will support teaching and learning across the school, leading lessons where required and delivering targeted interventions. You will play a vital role in helping students reach their full potential in a structured and nurturing SEN environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver pre-planned lessons and supervise classes in the absence of the teacher
- Provide tailored support to students with SEN, SEMH and autism
- Lead small group interventions to support academic progress and emotional development
- Support the implementation of EHCP targets and differentiated learning strategies
- Utilise effective behaviour management techniques to create a positive learning environment
- Monitor and track pupil progress, feeding back to teachers and senior staff
- Build strong, supportive relationships that encourage engagement and confidence
- Contribute to the overall inclusive and safe school environment
To be considered for this HLTA job in Wigan, you will need:
- A recognised HLTA qualification or equivalent experience
- Previous experience in a school, SEN setting, or education support role
- Strong understanding of behaviour management and pastoral support
- Experience supporting children with SEMH, ASC or complex learning needs
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- A proactive and adaptable approach to working in a fast-paced education environment
- A genuine passion for supporting young people’s development and wellbeing
