About the Business We are a leading tier-one infrastructure delivery joint venture operating across major national transport projects in the UK. We are currently seeking an experienced Section Engineer specializing in bulk earthworks to join our regional project delivery team.
The Role Reporting to the Sub Agent, you will supervise the site engineering team from construction through to closeout. You will play a pivotal role in ensuring groundworks and civil engineering packages are executed safely, to required technical standards, on schedule, and within budget.
Key Responsibilities:
- Team Leadership: Supervise, direct, and mentor site setting-out personnel and junior engineers.
- Site & Resource Management: Coordinate with site management and foremen to allocate labour, plant, and materials effectively.
- Technical Support: Identify and resolve site technical queries; assist with temporary works schemes.
- Subcontractor Oversight: Monitor subcontractors to ensure delivery meets safety and quality standards.
- Reporting & Planning: Contribute to progress reporting, short-term programming, resource management, and cost tracking.
- Information Flow: Ensure site teams have up-to-date technical drawings, specifications, and design updates.
Qualifications & Certification:
- HNC or Degree in Civil Engineering / Construction (or equivalent).
- Valid CSCS Card.
- Valid SSSTS or SMSTS certificate.
- Full UK Driving Licence with access to a vehicle.
- Practical experience in groundworks or earthworks operations on civil engineering projects.
- Strong background in site setting-out and site supervision.
- Sound technical problem-solving abilities and communication skills.
