Salon Manager / Therapist
We are looking for an experienced, organised and commercially minded Salon Manager / Therapist to oversee the day\-to\-day running of The Hideaway while also maintaining an active treatment column.
This is a hands\-on role combining salon management, team leadership and client treatments. The successful candidate will be confident leading a team, maintaining high service standards and supporting the commercial performance of the business, while continuing to deliver treatments to clients.
Working Pattern
This is a five\-day\-per\-week role, working:
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday
Thursday and Saturday will be the regular non\-working days.
Flexibility may occasionally be required to support the needs of the business, holidays or team cover.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the day\-to\-day running of the salon and ensure the business operates smoothly and professionally.
- Maintain an active treatment column and carry out treatments to a consistently high standard.
- Provide excellent client care from consultation through to aftercare and rebooking.
- Lead, support and motivate the salon team.
- Manage staff rotas and general attendance.
- Monitor staff performance, productivity, rebooking, retail sales and diary utilisation.
- Carry out regular one\-to\-ones, performance reviews and team meetings.
- Support recruitment, onboarding and training of new team members.
- Ensure all team members follow salon policies, procedures and treatment protocols.
- Maintain high standards of customer service and deal professionally with client queries, feedback and complaints.
- Ensure treatment rooms, reception and communal areas are presented to a consistently high standard.
- Monitor stock levels, place orders where required and help minimise unnecessary wastage.
- Support promotions, memberships, treatment launches and other business initiatives.
- Work closely with the business owner to achieve revenue targets and identify opportunities for growth.
- Monitor the appointment diary and take action to improve quieter periods, cancellations and gaps.
- Encourage effective rebooking, treatment recommendations and retail sales.
- Ensure consultation forms, patch testing requirements and client records are completed correctly.
- Ensure health and safety, hygiene, infection control and insurance requirements are followed at all times.
- Assist with payments, refunds, cashing up and general salon administration where required.
- Handle operational issues independently where appropriate and escalate significant matters to the business owner.
- Lead by example in professionalism, appearance, client care, punctuality and treatment standards.
The Salon Manager / Therapist will be expected to:
- Carry out treatments in line with their qualifications, experience and salon protocols.
- Maintain an appropriate level of client bookings alongside management duties.
- Complete thorough consultations and recommend suitable treatments and homecare.
- Maintain accurate client notes.
- Rebook clients and support retail and treatment recommendations where appropriate.
- Keep up to date with treatment knowledge, product knowledge and any required training.
- Ensure treatment rooms and equipment are cleaned and maintained correctly.
The successful candidate should have:
- Previous salon, spa or beauty management or supervisory experience.
- Relevant beauty therapy qualifications.
- Strong practical treatment experience.
- Excellent leadership and people\-management skills.
- Strong organisational and diary\-management skills.
- Good commercial awareness and an understanding of targets, sales and profitability.
- Confidence managing difficult conversations with both staff and clients.
- High standards of customer service and attention to detail.
- The ability to work independently, use initiative and take ownership.
- A professional and approachable manner.
- Experience using salon booking software would be beneficial.
- Experience with Phorest would be advantageous but is not essential.
Performance within the role will include consideration of:
- Personal treatment revenue.
- Overall salon revenue and achievement of targets.
- Staff productivity and diary utilisation.
- Client retention and rebooking.
- Retail and treatment sales.
- Client feedback and service standards.
- Staff attendance and performance.
- Stock control and cost management.
- Compliance with salon procedures and policies.
- Overall smooth and professional operation of the salon.
The Salon Manager / Therapist will report directly to the business owner and will act as the senior point of contact within the salon during their working hours.
The role requires someone who is confident balancing management responsibilities with a client\-facing treatment role, while ensuring The Hideaway’s standards are maintained across the whole team.
Pay: £29,000\.00\-£33,000\.00 per year
