Stoke-on-Trent Up to £28,000 dependent on experience + performance bonus
Are you a confident communicator who enjoys speaking to customers, solving problems and turning enquiries into sales?
We're working with a growing e-commerce business specialising in a niche product and they're looking for a Sales Assistant to join their friendly office-based team.
This is a great opportunity for someone with sales, customer service or commercial administration experience who enjoys a varied role and wants the opportunity to develop their knowledge within a specialist industry.
Key Responsibilities
Working alongside the Sales Manager and wider office team, you'll be helping customers find the right products, processing orders and making sure enquiries are followed through from initial contact to successful sale.
Your day will include:
- Responding to customer enquiries by phone and email, providing information on products, pricing and availability.
- Preparing accurate quotes for both B2B and B2C customers.
- Calculating dimensions and surface areas for bespoke mesh requirements and applying the correct pricing.
- Processing online orders, purchase orders and custom quotes accurately through the internal system.
- Helping customers navigate the online catalogue and select the correct mesh count, wire diameter and material grade.
- Following up warm enquiries and opportunities to help convert them into sales.
- Maintaining accurate customer records and sales information.
- Liaising with colleagues regarding stock, purchasing and deliveries.
- Working closely with the warehouse team to help ensure orders are fulfilled accurately and on time.
- Supporting colleagues during busy periods and making sure no customer enquiry gets left unanswered.
We're looking for someone who is friendly, commercially minded and genuinely enjoys dealing with people.
You'll need:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Confidence speaking with customers over the phone.
- Strong attention to detail — particularly when dealing with numbers, dimensions, pricing and product codes.
- Good basic mathematical skills and confidence working with measurements and area calculations.
- A proactive, positive "can-do" attitude.
- The ability to stay calm and organised when things get busy.
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft 365 and/or Google Workspace.
- Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple enquiries and priorities.
- A willingness to learn — you don't need to be a woven mesh expert from day one!
- A genuine team-player attitude and the ability to build positive working relationships across sales, office and warehouse teams.
- Sales or telesales.
- Customer service within a commercial environment.
- Sales administration or order processing.
- A targeted office-based sales environment.
- QuickBooks, Xero or Sage 50.
- Reading technical or engineering drawings, including PDF or DXF formats.
