Sales Assistant

About the Role

We are looking for a friendly, confident, hardworking, and customer\-focused Perfume Store Sales Assistant to join our team.

As a member of our store, you will be responsible for welcoming customers, understanding what they are looking for, recommending suitable perfumes, and helping them choose products they will love.

You do not need to be a perfume expert when you start. We will provide training on our perfumes, fragrances, products, and sales approach.

The most important qualities we are looking for are a positive attitude, good communication skills, reliability, honesty, and a genuine desire to help customers.

Your Main Responsibilities1\. Welcoming Customers

• Greet every customer in a friendly and professional manner.


• Make customers feel comfortable when they enter the store.


• Ask customers questions to understand what type of fragrance they are looking for.


• Give customers space when they want to browse, while being available to help when needed.


• Create a welcoming and enjoyable shopping experience.

2\. Helping Customers Choose Perfumes

You will help customers find fragrances based on their preferences and needs.

For example, you may ask:

• What type of fragrance do you normally wear?


• Do you prefer something fresh, sweet, woody, floral, or strong?


• Are you looking for something for yourself or as a gift?


• Is the fragrance for everyday use or a special occasion?


• Do you have a particular perfume you already like?

You will then recommend suitable fragrances and explain the differences between them in a simple and easy\-to\-understand way.

3\. Learning About Our Products

You will be expected to learn about the perfumes and products we sell.

This includes understanding:

• Fragrance names


• Fragrance types and styles


• Main fragrance notes


• Different strengths and concentrations


• Product prices


• Sizes and available options


• Best\-selling products


• New products and promotions


• Gift sets and special offers

You should be comfortable explaining products to customers without using overly complicated language.

4\. Providing Excellent Customer Service

Customer service is one of the most important parts of this job.

You should:

• Be polite and respectful to every customer.


• Listen carefully to customers.


• Answer questions clearly.


• Be patient with customers who need time to decide.


• Never pressure customers into buying something they do not want.


• Handle complaints calmly and professionally.


• Make customers feel valued and respected.

Our goal is not simply to make a sale. We want customers to have a great experience and want to come back to our store.

5\. Sales

You will also be responsible for helping the store achieve its sales targets.

This may include:

• Recommending suitable products.


• Explaining promotions and special offers.


• Suggesting complementary products when appropriate.


• Helping customers compare different fragrances.


• Encouraging customers to try suitable products.


• Following up with customers where appropriate.


• Completing sales accurately.

You should be comfortable talking about products and confidently asking customers if they would like to purchase.

6\. Keeping the Store Clean and Presentable

The store must always look clean, organised, and welcoming.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Keeping shelves and displays tidy.


• Cleaning product areas and counters.


• Re\-stocking products when required.


• Making sure products are displayed correctly.


• Keeping testers and sample areas clean and organised.


• Making sure pricing and promotional information is displayed correctly.


• Reporting damaged or missing products to the manager.

7\. Cash Register and Payments

You may be required to operate the till and process customer payments.

This includes:

• Processing cash and card payments.


• Giving the correct change.


• Providing receipts.


• Following store procedures for refunds and exchanges.


• Handling money responsibly.


• Reporting any till discrepancies to the manager.

Full training will be provided where necessary.

Previous retail, sales, customer service, beauty, cosmetics, or perfume experience is preferred but not essential.

Training

We expect you to take an interest in learning about perfumes and becoming confident enough to make good recommendations to customers.

Working With the Team

You will work as part of a small retail team.

You will be expected to:

• Complete your duties properly before finishing your shift.
