Role Purpose

The Sales and Marketing Manager is responsible for leading Raeburn Training’s commercial growth, with primary accountability for income streams from general training sales and Training Plan Management. The role leads a small sales team, provides training and coaching, manages marketing activity, supports tendering and supply chain onboarding, and strengthens relationships with existing and new clients.

A key part of the role is creating a structured, supportive and customer\-focused sales environment where every enquiry is valued, tracked and progressed effectively to protect customer service standards and maximise conversion opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

Sales Leadership and Management

  • Lead, motivate, train and coach the sales team to achieve agreed sales, service and quality objectives.

  • Create a structured and supportive team environment where enquiries are valued, owned, tracked and followed up.

  • Ensure effective use of CRM, sales pipeline, enquiry tracking and customer follow\-up processes.

  • Set and monitor sales KPIs, individual objectives and team targets.

  • Review enquiry conversion, repeat business, customer service levels and team performance.

  • Provide regular feedback, one\-to\-one support and development planning for team members.
Revenue Growth and Business Development
  • Take primary responsibility for growing income from general training sales, including open courses, in\-company training, repeat business and new enquiries.

  • Take primary responsibility for growing Training Plan Management services, including client onboarding, retention, account growth and service development.

  • Grow relationships with existing clients through proactive account management, follow\-ups, management meetings and client reviews.

  • Identify new business opportunities, prepare proposals and support pricing and commercial terms.

  • Lead on tender opportunities, including bid coordination, supporting evidence, pricing input and submission quality.

  • Represent the business at client meetings, networking activity and industry events.
Marketing and Communications
  • Lead marketing activity across social media, advertising, media releases, blogs, newsletters, website content and press releases.

  • Develop marketing KPIs and monitor campaign effectiveness, lead generation, engagement and return on investment.

  • Plan and coordinate marketing campaigns for general training, Training Plan Management and wider business services.

  • Maintain website content to ensure information is accurate, current and aligned with brand standards.

  • Support customer testimonials, case studies, reviews and success stories.

  • Attend relevant networking and industry events to strengthen brand awareness and generate opportunities.
Supply Chain and Course Support
  • Lead supply chain onboarding for sales\-related delivery needs, including selection, vetting and commercial assessment of suppliers.

  • Lead third\-party onboarding and renewal activity in line with business requirements.

  • Contribute to supplier relationship management, delivery capacity planning and quality of customer experience.

  • Work with internal teams to support course planning, customer notifications, venue or equipment requirements and operational readiness where relevant.
Customer Service, Quality and Reporting
  • Ensure excellent customer service standards are embedded across sales and client management activity.

  • Gather, review and act on customer feedback, testimonials and reviews.

  • Monitor sales administration accuracy and support corrective action where required.

  • Prepare and review KPIs, targets, forecasts and management information for general training and Training Plan Management streams.

  • Contribute to continuous improvement, change requests, data updates and process development across sales and marketing systems.
Person Specification

Essential Experience

  • Significant experience in sales, business development, account management or commercial management.

  • Experience leading, training, coaching or supervising a sales team.

  • Experience managing customer enquiries, sales pipelines and CRM processes.

  • Experience developing marketing activity across digital, content, advertising and customer communications.

  • Proven ability to grow income, improve conversion and maintain strong customer relationships.

  • Experience producing KPIs, forecasts and performance reports.
Desirable Experience
  • Experience in the training, education, health and safety, compliance or professional services sector.

  • Experience with managed services such as training plan management, account\-managed contracts or recurring client services.

  • Tendering, bid writing or public sector procurement experience.

  • Experience onboarding, vetting or managing suppliers, associates or subcontractors.
Skills and Knowledge
  • Strong leadership, coaching, communication and performance management skills.

  • Commercial awareness, negotiation skills and ability to identify growth opportunities.

  • High standard of customer service, relationship management and professional judgement.

  • Marketing capability across social media, website content, newsletters, blogs, press releases and campaign KPIs.

  • Confident use of Microsoft 365, CRM systems and sales or marketing reporting tools.

  • Ability to work collaboratively across operations, quality, administration and delivery teams.
Qualifications
  • Essential: HNC/HND level qualification or equivalent relevant experience.

  • Essential: Full UK driving licence, due to client meetings, networking and business development activity.

  • Desirable: Degree or professional qualification in business, marketing, sales or management.

  • Desirable: Chartered Institute of Marketing, Institute of Sales Professionals, ILM, digital marketing, bid writing or project management qualification.
Success Measures
  • Delivery of agreed revenue, margin and customer retention targets.

  • Growth in Training Plan Management customers and recurring income.

  • Improved enquiry tracking, conversion rates and customer service standards.

  • Effective marketing KPIs, improved lead generation and stronger brand engagement.

  • Successful tender submissions and growth of key client relationships.

  • A trained, confident and supported sales team working to consistent processes.
