Naturally good with people, motivated by what you can earn and able to keep going when someone says no?
We’re working exclusively with a fast\-growing field marketing and sales business that is building a new venue sales team across Liverpool and Merseyside for one of the UK’s leading energy providers.
You’ll be based at pre\-booked retail venues, speaking to shoppers and passers\-by about their energy options and helping them decide whether switching provider is right for them.
There is no cold calling and no door knocking. The important difference is that you can't wait for customers to come to you, either.
You’ll need to be happy starting conversations, dealing with plenty of people who aren’t interested and then approaching the next person with the same high energy (pardon the pun).
Unlike many direct sales roles, this is a PAYE employed position, rather than a self\-employed, commission\-only arrangement. You’ll receive guaranteed base pay for every shift you work, plus uncapped commission for each customer who successfully switches and is activated.
What You’ll Be Doing
✔ Starting conversations – proactively approaching people at supermarkets, shopping centres and other retail venues.
✔ Understanding what customers need – asking the right questions and explaining the available energy products clearly and honestly.
✔ Helping people switch – guiding suitable customers through the application process and making sure their information is accurate.
✔ Owning your targets – working towards a minimum expectation of two successful sales a day and looking for opportunities to do more.
✔ Staying compliant – following the process properly and representing both the field marketing business and its energy partner professionally.
✔ Working as part of a venue team – supporting the people around you and helping create a positive, high\-performing environment.
What They’re Looking For
Previous direct sales experience would be useful, but it isn’t essential. Some of the strongest people in the current team had never worked in sales before.
The three big things are:
1\. Natural confidence with people
You can start a conversation with someone you don’t know, hold their attention and build rapport quickly.
2\. Resilience
You understand that plenty of people will say no or walk past, and you can stay positive and go again.
3\. Motivation to earn
You’re genuinely excited by an uncapped commission structure and comfortable being measured against sales targets.
Beyond that, they’re looking for someone who is:
✔ Comfortable dealing with customers face to face – perhaps through retail, hospitality, customer service, promotions or sales.
✔ Reliable – you turn up when you say you will, represent the business properly and can be trusted to work independently.
✔ Flexible – you can travel to different venues across Liverpool, Merseyside and surrounding areas.
✔ Happy working as part of a team – you’ll normally be working alongside other Sales Advisors at each venue.
A driving licence and access to a vehicle would be useful because some team members help move display stands between venues, but it isn’t essential.
Pay and Working Pattern
You’ll be paid National Minimum Wage/National Living Wage for the hours you work, paid monthly, plus uncapped commission for successful customer activations.
The advertised OTE is £22,750–£55,000\+ a year, depending on the number of shifts you work and your sales performance.
For context, the business says someone consistently achieving two successful sales a day can earn around £30,000, while people making four or five sales a day can earn around £47,000\. These are examples rather than guaranteed earnings.
Shifts are normally six hours, including a one\-hour break. The business can accommodate anything from a couple of shifts a week through to five or six for people who want to maximise their earnings.
Daytime and weekend availability may be required, and your venue will vary within the local area.
Why This One Is Interesting
✔ You’re employed – you’ll have a PAYE contract, guaranteed base pay for your hours, holiday pay and a company pension.
✔ There is genuine earning potential – commission is uncapped, so strong performance makes a meaningful difference to what you take home.
✔ The shifts are flexible – full\-time and part\-time options are available, with shorter shifts than many customer\-facing roles.
✔ The training is properly supported – you’ll complete a paid two to three\-day induction and accreditation programme at the company’s training centre in Tamworth.
✔ Your costs are covered during training – hotel accommodation and meals will be provided when an overnight stay is required.
✔ There is room to progress – the operation is growing quickly, with genuine opportunities for strong performers to move into team leader and management roles.
✔ You’ll receive ongoing support – experienced sales managers will provide coaching, incentives and recognition as you develop.
You’ll need to be aged 18 or over, have the right to work in the UK, be able to attend training in Tamworth and be willing to complete any background and compliance checks required for the role.
If you’re confident, resilient, good with people and keen to be rewarded for the results you deliver, this could be a very good opportunity.
Sound like your kind of thing? We’d love to hear from you.
