Robotics Lead

*We're looking for a Robotics Lead that will own and drive Ongo's robotics roadmap, from prototype to a million units shipped. You will work hand in hand with an Oscar\-nominated writer to translate “character” into “motion”.*

You will work on

• Designing and tuning control systems for actuated subsystems including motion control, feedback, and dynamic response.


• Integrating actuators, sensors, and embedded electronics into aesthetic and reliable mechatronic assemblies.


• Developing motion primitives and expressive behaviors that shape how the robot moves.


• Developing control algorithms in C\+\+ and/or Python from simulation through deployment on hardware.


• Building and maintaining URDF models and simulation environments aligned with the physical platform.


• Diagnosing real\-world control issues such as instability, backlash, latency, drift, and sensor noise.


• Collaborating with animators, mechanical and electrical engineers on actuator selection, structure, sensing strategy and motion fine\-tuning.


• Maintaining documentation of control architecture and tuning decisions as the system evolves.

• Someone with a Master's degree or PhD (or equivalent) in Robotics, Machine Learning, or a related field.


• Experienced in controlling robotic arms and writing control policies.


• A hands\-on builder who has made their own robot.


• Passionate and opinionated about technology and design.


• Always working on a side project and exploring the latest tools.


• Someone with a chip on their shoulder who gets a thrill from proving doubters wrong.


• Someone who loves good food and has strong opinions on the best restaurant within 2km.
