The Role
As Store Manager, you’ll take full ownership of store performance, team leadership, and customer experience.
You’ll balance strong commercial management with genuine enthusiasm for specialist retail, ensuring the store is profitable, well\-run, and a place customers love to visit.
Responsibilities
- Lead, coach, and inspire a team of sales assistants and supervisors
- Deliver exceptional customer service and create a welcoming store culture
- Drive sales performance and exceed store KPIs
- Manage rota planning, staffing levels, recruitment, and onboarding
- Oversee stock control, deliveries, merchandising, and product launches
- Ensure visual presentation reflects brand standards and seasonal campaigns
- Analyse sales reports and implement strategies to improve performance
- Manage cash handling, banking, and loss prevention procedures
- Resolve customer issues professionally and effectively
- Ensure compliance with health \& safety and company procedures
- Build local customer engagement through events, launches, and community activity
Essential
- Proven experience in retail management (Assistant Manager / Store Manager level)
- Strong leadership and people development skills
- Commercial awareness with experience managing targets, budgets, and KPIs
- Excellent organisation and problem\-solving ability
- Confident handling stock\-intensive retail operations
- Flexible availability, including weekends and peak trading periods
- Strong communication skills and a hands\-on leadership style
- Interest in comics, manga, gaming, film, sci\-fi, anime, or collectibles
- Experience in specialist retail, entertainment retail, or hobby stores
- Knowledge of launches, exclusives, or event\-based retail
- Experience with POS systems and stock management software
