Retail and Wholesale Operations Manager
Mighty Olu Grocery is a growing multicultural grocery retail and ecommerce business specialising in African, Caribbean, and international food products across the UK. We are seeking an experienced Retail \& Wholesale Operations Manager to lead and oversee our retail, ecommerce, logistics, and wholesale operations.
The successful candidate will possess strong leadership skills, strategic vision, and a comprehensive understanding of retail operations, inventory management, business performance analysis, and customer service excellence. This role involves driving operational improvements, managing teams, improving compliance procedures, strengthening supplier coordination, and supporting the continued growth of the business.
The successful applicant will play a key role in implementing operational strategies, analysing business performance, improving operational efficiency, and fostering a customer\-focused culture to maximise profitability and business performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement strategic operational plans to achieve retail and wholesale business objectives Lead, motivate, supervise, and support operational and retail staff to maintain high performance standards Manage day\-to\-day retail, ecommerce, inventory, warehousing, and wholesale operations Analyse sales performance, operational data, market trends, and customer feedback to identify business growth opportunities Oversee stock control, supplier coordination, inventory replenishment, and logistics operations Monitor customer service standards and implement improvements to enhance customer satisfaction Ensure efficient merchandising, product availability, and operational workflow across retail and online channels Maintain relationships with suppliers, vendors, logistics providers, and business stakeholders Monitor financial and operational performance through budgets, forecasts, sales reports, and management information Support implementation of operational improvement initiatives following local authority inspection recommendations Ensure compliance with food hygiene, health \& safety, operational regulations, and company procedures Drive continuous operational improvements to enhance productivity, efficiency, and profitability Support recruitment, onboarding, staff development, and operational training activities Identify opportunities to strengthen ecommerce growth and customer engagement strategies
- Proven experience in managerial or operational leadership roles within retail, wholesale, ecommerce, logistics, or related sectors Strong operational management and organisational skills Experience managing inventory control, supplier coordination, and retail operations Ability to analyse operational and sales data to support strategic decision\-making Strong leadership and people management abilities Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Ability to manage multiple operational priorities in a fast\-paced environment Strong problem\-solving and decision\-making capabilities Customer\-focused approach with commercial awareness Good understanding of retail compliance, operational standards, and health \& safety procedures Proficiency in Microsoft Office and operational reporting systems
- Degree or diploma in Business Management, Retail Management, Supply Chain, Operations Management, or related discipline Experience within grocery, food retail, multicultural retail, or ecommerce sectors Experience managing online retail operations and order fulfilment systems Knowledge of logistics, warehousing, and stock management processes Understanding of digital retailing and customer engagement strategies
