About the Role
------------------

HIto Solutions is looking for a Resident Testing Engineer – Lighting \& Comfort Electronics to support a long\-term automotive engineering activity based in Crewe, UK.

The successful candidate will support the development, integration, testing and validation of automotive Lighting and Comfort Electronics systems, working directly within the customer’s engineering environment.

This role requires a hands\-on and autonomous engineer who can execute testing activities, investigate electrical and electronic issues, support root\-cause analysis and communicate technical findings effectively to multiple engineering teams.

The candidate will work independently on\-site while maintaining regular technical alignment with the wider project team.

Technical Scope
-------------------

The role covers Lighting and Comfort Electronics, with particular focus on:

  • Body Control Modules (BCMs)

  • Door Control Units

  • Climate Control ECUs

  • Interior lighting electronics

  • Electronic systems and function development

  • Automotive functional architectures

  • ECU integration, flashing and parameterisation

  • On\-board diagnostics

  • Vehicle communication networks

  • Software release management
Key Responsibilities
------------------------
  • Execute functional and component\-level tests on complete vehicles and test benches.

  • Analyse test results and prepare clear and structured technical reports.

  • Reproduce electrical and electronic issues under controlled test conditions.

  • Perform troubleshooting and support structured root\-cause analysis.

  • Propose potential technical countermeasures and corrective actions.

  • Support the resolution of integration and diagnostic issues.

  • Provide technical assistance to other customer departments.

  • Support ECU flashing, software parameterisation and configuration activities.

  • Perform diagnostic activities and analyse communication or functional faults.

  • Coordinate technical agreements and actions with relevant engineering teams and stakeholders.

  • Monitor testing activities across multiple parallel project timelines and deadlines.

  • Provide regular project and technical status reports.

  • Manage software releases and maintain the relevant tracking systems.

  • Share test results, technical findings and achieved milestones with the wider project team.

  • Work independently while ensuring effective communication, escalation and follow\-up of critical issues.
Requirements
----------------
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in the automotive sector.

  • Previous experience within an automotive OEM, Tier 1, Tier 2 or specialist engineering company.

  • Practical experience in Comfort Electronics, preferably involving BCMs, Door ECUs and/or Climate Control ECUs.

  • Experience with interior lighting electronics would be highly desirable.

  • Knowledge of electronic system and function development.

  • Good understanding of automotive functional architectures.

  • Practical experience executing and analysing tests on vehicles and test benches.

  • Experience with ECU integration, flashing, parameterisation and diagnostics.

  • Ability to reproduce technical issues and conduct structured troubleshooting.

  • Ability to manage several complex testing activities and deadlines in parallel.

  • Ability to work independently and communicate technical results effectively.

  • Fluent English is mandatory.

  • Italian would be considered an advantage.

  • Software\-release and issue\-tracking systems

  • Willingness to travel independently when required.
Availability \& Mobility
----------------------------

The candidate must:

  • Be available for full\-time, fully on\-site work in Crewe.

  • Be resident in the UK or already have the right to work in the United Kingdom.

  • Be able to travel independently to other customer and partner locations when required.

  • Be available for occasional travel to Italy.

  • Be available to start as soon as possible.
Desirable Experience
------------------------

Previous experience working on Bentley projects, within the Bentley organisation or directly at the Crewe site would be highly desirable and considered a significant advantage.

Project Environment
-----------------------

Project\-specific hardware, software licences, testing equipment and system access will be managed separately and are not expected to be provided by the candidate.
