We are looking for a Research Fellow with skills and expertise in data science, statistics, and epidemiology to contribute to a multi\-centre research programme that aims to develop a head\-and\-neck cancer risk stratification system that would make cancer referral pathways more efficient.
The Research Fellow will be involved in analysing routinely collected linked datasets on patients referred to hospital with suspected head\-and\-neck cancer. This post will provide an excellent opportunity for someone who wants a career in “big data” research.
The role requires strong skills and expertise in data science, statistics, and epidemiology. The successful candidate will have a postgraduate degree, ideally a doctoral degree in one of these areas. Experience of working on large observational health care studies is helpful, but the job also suits someone with experience of analysing clinical trials.
It is based at the Department of Health Services Research \& Policy, an internationally recognised centre of expertise in methodologically focused cancer research. The Department has a leading role in evaluating cancer treatment provided by the NHS.
The post is full\-time 35 hours per week, 1\.0 FTE and fixed term until 29 February 2028\. The post is funded by the NIHR and is available from 01 July 2026\.
The salary will be on the LSHTM salary scale, Grade 6 in the range £45,728 \- £51,872 per annum pro rata (inclusive of London Weighting). The post will be subject to the LSHTM terms and conditions of service. Annual leave entitlement is 30 working days per year, pro rata for part time staff. In addition to this there are discretionary “Wellbeing Days”. Membership of the Pension Scheme is available. The post is based in London at LSHTM.
