Research Engineer in Metallurgy

Your role
We are looking for an Engineer with a strong knowledge in Metallurgy / Materials Science.
You will be in charge of R\&D Projects dedicated to different metallurgy\-related topics, focused on structural steel products manufactured in ArcelorMittal Long Products plants :
- Development of new high strength steels for structural long products.
- Optimization of the metallurgical route (Chemistry \& Process).
- In\-depth investigation of the application properties.
- Integration in products/application standards and follow\-up of the standardization process.
You will manage the close follow\-up of the industrial trials and production campaigns.
You will also be a reference in your field of expertise, and provide additional support for all other Metallurgy\-related Projects.
Involvement in the standardization committees in link with our steel long products is to be expected, as well as technical assistance when backup is needed to answer requests from our customers.
Punctual business trips are expected in case of needs (Europe, North America).
Your profile
- You hold a Master's degree or a PhD in Metallurgy or Material Science.
- You have a solid background in Physical Metallurgy and a good understanding of the metallurgical mechanisms taking place all along the manufacturing route of steel products (secondary metallurgy, continuous casting, hot rolling, heat treatment...).
- You are able to analyze a complex process, to integrate external knowledge and to implement practical solutions and work in an industrial environment.
- You are able to lead and manage projects independently and deliver high quality results.
- You are able to carry out a technological watch.
- You are fluent in English and in French.
- You feel comfortable working in an office environment as well as on the field.
- You are persevering, creative and a source of proposals in your work.
- You are organized and rigorous in the reporting of your work and respect of deadlines.
