Research Assistant (m/w/d)

I am looking for a motivated Research Assistant to support my research within Subproject M1 of the Cluster of Excellence CLICCS, as part of the project “D°GREES – Decarbonization: Global Research on Effects in Enterprises and Societies,” at the University of Hamburg. The position is available as soon as possible and comprises an average of 10 hours per week

CLICCS is an ambitious research program at the University of Hamburg and its partner institutions, funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG) as part of the German government’s Excellence Strategy. CLICCS brings together extensive expertise in interdisciplinary climate research and draws on diverse perspectives to address the overarching research question of plausible climate futures. Subproject M1 investigates whether, how quickly, and through which mechanisms a comprehensive shift away from carbon – the decarbonization of the economy – can be achieved in the coming decades.

My specific research within the cluster focuses on how internal and external stakeholders, Indigenous knowledge, and colonial histories may influence corporate transitions toward more sustainable and decarbonised business practices.

Your Tasks

I am looking for someone with a strong interest in empirical research and, ideally, some firsthand experience conducting it. Experience with academic writing would be advantageous but is not mandatory.

Your responsibilities would include:

· Supporting empirical research, including data collection and analysis

· Assisting with the preparation and organization of interviews

· Supporting literature searches and reviews

· Assisting with the preparation of academic publications and other research outputs

· Organising, documenting, and managing research data

· Supporting qualitative data analysis, for example using MAXQDA

There will also be some administrative tasks associated with the position. As an active member of the research team, you would support me in selected organisational and administrative matters. These tasks, however, will remain secondary to the research\-related responsibilities outlined above.

Your Profile

You are:

· Preferably a Master’s student (Bachelor students who feel their profile fits the description are also welcome to apply)

· Reliable, committed, and able to work independently

· Open\-minded and eager to learn about new topics, software, and research methods

· Interested in sustainability, particularly topics related to climate activism, Indigenous knowledge, and colonialism

· Equipped with excellent written and spoken English skills (C1/C2\)

· Experienced in working confidently with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

· Ideally, have some initial experience with data analysis software, such as MAXQDA
