Kembla is a growing renewable energy business delivering high\-quality solar PV, battery storage and energy solutions across domestic, commercial and maintenance projects. As the business continues to expand, we are looking for an experienced Renewables Engineer to join our delivery team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a practical, technically skilled and customer\-focused engineer who wants to play a key role in the installation, commissioning, servicing and maintenance of renewable energy systems.
The role will predominantly focus on Solar PV installations, battery storage systems, fault finding, reactive maintenance, remedial works and system optimisation across domestic and commercial projects. Experience with leading manufacturers such as SolarEdge, Tesla or similar systems would be highly beneficial.
About the role
The Renewables Engineer will support the delivery, commissioning and ongoing maintenance of renewable energy systems, working closely with project managers, installation teams, subcontractors, suppliers and customers.
You will be responsible for carrying out high\-quality installation, testing, fault finding, maintenance and remedial works across a range of Solar PV and battery storage projects. The role will involve both planned and reactive works, with a strong focus on safety, compliance, quality and customer service.
This is a hands\-on role combining technical installation, electrical testing, system diagnostics, customer communication and site\-based problem solving.
Key responsibilities
You will support the delivery team by:
· Installing, commissioning, servicing and maintaining Solar PV systems across domestic and commercial sites.
· Working with battery storage systems, hybrid inverters and associated renewable technologies.
· Carrying out fault finding and diagnostics on Solar PV and battery storage systems.
· Completing remedial and reactive maintenance works to a high standard.
· Supporting system upgrades, monitoring configuration and performance optimisation.
· Working with equipment from manufacturers such as SolarEdge, Tesla, GivEnergy and equivalent systems.
· Carrying out system testing and ensuring works comply with current regulations and industry standards.
· Completing electrical certification, commissioning paperwork and installation documentation.
· Supporting customer handovers and explaining system operation where required.
· Assisting with maintenance visits, warranty investigations and service works.
· Working safely at height and following all relevant health and safety procedures.
· Communicating clearly with customers, internal teams, project managers and subcontractors.
· Escalating technical issues appropriately and helping resolve site\-based challenges.
· Assisting with other renewable technologies where required, including EV chargers, heat pumps and energy management systems.
What we are looking for
We are looking for someone who is technically capable, reliable and confident working on live projects. The right candidate will have strong electrical knowledge, practical experience with renewable energy systems and a professional approach to customers and colleagues.
The ideal candidate will have:
· Previous experience installing, servicing or maintaining Solar PV systems.
· Strong electrical fault\-finding and diagnostic skills.
· Knowledge of battery storage systems and hybrid inverter technologies.
· Experience with SolarEdge, Tesla, GivEnergy or equivalent manufacturers.
· Relevant electrical qualifications such as NVQ Level 3, City \& Guilds, AM2 or equivalent.
· 18th Edition Wiring Regulations.
· A good understanding of electrical safety, testing and compliance requirements.
· The ability to work independently and as part of a wider delivery team.
· Strong communication skills and a professional customer\-facing approach.
· Good attention to detail and pride in the quality of work completed.
· A proactive attitude and willingness to support across different types of renewable energy projects.
· A commitment to high standards of safety, quality and customer service.
· A full UK driving licence, as the role will involve travelling to multiple sites.
Beneficial experience
The following would be useful but are not essential:
· Inspection and Testing qualification, such as 2391 or equivalent.
· MCS or NICEIC experience.
· Experience installing or maintaining EV chargers.
· Knowledge of heat pumps or other renewable technologies.
· IPAF, PASMA or working at height certifications.
· Experience using monitoring platforms and remote diagnostic tools.
· Experience working across both domestic and commercial sites.
· Experience completing commissioning packs, handover documentation and maintenance reports.

This role would suit an experienced electrician, Solar PV engineer, renewables engineer or maintenance engineer who enjoys practical, site\-based work and takes pride in delivering a high\-quality service.
You may already be working in Solar PV, battery storage, EV charging, electrical installation or renewable energy maintenance. You will be confident working on site, comfortable dealing with customers and capable of diagnosing and resolving technical issues professionally.
