Role: Site Reliability Engineer

Location: Burton upon Trent

Job Type: Permanent, full-time

Salary: Circa £55,000–£65,000 + personal bonus

About the Role

A well-established manufacturing business is seeking a Site Reliability Engineer to work closely alongside the Maintenance Manager, driving the reliability and performance of the site's production assets.

This is a role for an engineer who wants to look at the bigger picture: not just fixing what breaks but understanding why it breaks and making sure it doesn't happen again.

You'll act as the site's reliability specialist, blending hands-on engineering with data, analysis and strategy, influencing how maintenance is planned and delivered across the operation.

What the Role Involves

  • Own the site's reliability strategy, developing and refining maintenance programmes that protect asset performance and extend equipment life

  • Use tools such as root cause analysis (RCA), FMEA and failure data trends to understand why failures occur and stop them from recurring

  • Shape and improve planned preventative maintenance (PPM) routines, moving the site away from reactive firefighting towards proactive, condition-based care

  • Introduce and manage condition monitoring techniques, vibration analysis, thermography and oil analysis among them, to catch problems before they escalate

  • Partner with the Maintenance Manager to prioritise workloads, plan shutdowns and ensure engineering resources are focused where they add most value

  • Analyse equipment history and downtime data, presenting findings and recommendations that drive measurable improvements in overall equipment effectiveness (OEE)

  • Support capital projects and new equipment introductions, ensuring reliability requirements are built in from day one

  • Coach and upskill the wider maintenance team, sharing knowledge that raises the site's engineering standards

Who We're After
  • An engineer with a solid background in reliability engineering or maintenance engineering within a manufacturing or heavy industry setting

  • Confident using reliability tools and methodologies such as RCA, FMEA, RCM and MTBF analysis to drive real improvements

  • Experienced with condition monitoring techniques, or keen to develop in this area

  • Comfortable working with both engineering data and people, you can crunch the numbers, but you can also get buy-in from the shop floor

  • A natural collaborator who will build a strong working relationship with the Maintenance Manager and wider site team

  • Someone with the credibility and communication skills to influence at every level, from technicians to senior leadership

What's in It for You
  • A salary of circa £55,000–£65,000, reflecting the seniority and impact of the role

  • A personal bonus scheme rewarding your individual contribution to site performance

  • Genuine influence over how reliability is done across the site, this is a role where your ideas will shape strategy, not just follow it

  • The chance to work with a supportive management team in a business that takes asset care seriously

  • Scope for professional development, including support towards accreditations and further qualifications

  • A permanent position with a stable, well-regarded manufacturer offering long-term career prospects
