Registrar Doctor in Robotic Colorectal Surgery
This is a registrar post in Colorectal Surgery, working under the supervision of Mr Shanu Rasheed, Mr Sheng Qiu, and Professor Paris Tekkis, to start in October 2026\. Based in Chelsea, this is a 12 month fixed term designed to provide the opportunity to gain experience in the management of colorectal cancer, including complex colorectal surgical procedures.
This post will allow the successful candidate to gain experience in all aspects of the management of advanced colorectal cancers as well as minimally invasive surgery. The fellow will be an active member of the MDT providing care for patients with locally advanced rectal cancers, recurrent cancers, and colorectal cancers with oligometastatic disease.
The fellow will gain experience in performing standard colorectal resection and beyond TME surgery under consultant supervision.
The fellow is actively involved in the day\-to\-day care of patients at the Royal Marsden Hospital. Under the supervision of consultants, they will attend outpatient clinics. They will also attend and actively participate in weekly MDT meetings.
The post holder will also gain experience in the multi\-disciplinary management of patients from other cancer groups who requires elective and urgent colorectal surgical input.
For those who desire, there will be opportunities to train in lower GI endoscopy from JAG accredited trainers.
The fellow will be allowed to develop their area of interest. Fellows will also have the opportunity to work with other faculty members in the Department of Colorectal Surgery. These include but are not limited to roles in clinical research, management, and education. There is also an expectation that the post holder participate in discussions with the Consultant group about performance, clinical system improvements, patient safety, education and training as well as day to day management issues.
The duties will be located in the Outpatients Department, Rapid Diagnostic and Assessment Centre (RDAC), Endoscopy, Theatres and Wards, at the Chelsea and Sutton sites of the Royal Marsden NHS Trust.
