Registered Manager - Respite Centre (Children and Young People)
Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Registered Manager to oversee our Respite care services. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the daily operations of the care home, ensuring high standards of support for our children and young people are maintained.. This role requires strong leadership skills, a compassionate approach to essential support to children/Young People with complex needs, and we are looking for a compassionate individual who is committed to making a positive impact on their lives.
The Registered Manager will play a pivotal role in supervising staff, developing care plans, and ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements. This position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of residents and their families.
Duties
- Oversee the day\-to\-day running of the respite care service, ensuring smooth operational management
- Lead and supervise care staff, fostering a positive team with compassionate and engaging child centred support.
- Develop, implement, and review personalised care plans tailored to individual needs
- Ensure compliance with all legal and regulatory standards related to nursing, assisted living, and home care services
- Monitor care plans, risk assessments, behaviour support plans, and placement documentation.
- Provide leadership in managing medication administration procedures safely and effectively
- Coordinate staff training programmes to maintain high standards
- Liaise with families, healthcare professionals, and external agencies to support residents’ wellbeing
- Manage staffing rotas, and resource allocation efficiently
- Promote a caring environment that upholds dignity, independence, and respect for all residents
- Hold an NVQ/Diploma Level 5 in Leadership and Management (or willingness to achieve within required timeframe)
- Hold an NVQ/Diploma Level 3 in Children and Young People Social Care Setting.
- Proven experience in a management role within a Respite home or Residential living setting
- Extensive knowledge of Residential home practices, including medication management
- Strong leadership skills with supervising experience in a senior or healthcare environment
- Familiarity with legal frameworks governing Ofsted
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to develop comprehensive care plans
- Compassionate approach with excellent communication skills to liaise effectively with residents, families, and multidisciplinary teams
- Experience in managing budgets and staff rotas within a regulated care setting
- At Least 3 years Experience working with children with complex needs
- Passion for working with children and young people with complex needs.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong teamwork and collaboration abilities.
- PECS/ Makaton understanding.
- Enhanced DBS required for this role.
- Previous experience as a Registered Manager.
- Experience managing Ofsted inspections.
- Ability to work flexibly including evenings, weekends, and on\-call duties where necessary.
- Full current driving licence
