Pre\-registration role with full pay and support from day one (SC1 / SC2\)
We are preparing to open a therapeutic children’s home and we are now appointing an experienced Registered Manager to lead the home through pre\-registration and into operation.
We are currently in the pre\-registration stage and need the manager to lead and support our SC1 and SC2 applications. Full salary will be paid from day one, including throughout the pre\-registration period.
We are also open to a strong Deputy Manager looking to step up into a Registered Manager role. If you’ve got the right values, leadership ability and drive, we will support your progression.
What makes this role different
· Full salary during pre\-registration (not “unpaid until registered”)
· Consultant support already in place for setup, documentation, readiness and training
· Active oversight from the Nominated Individual/leadership team — you won’t be left to carry pre\-reg alone
· Right placements only: we will not accept unsuitable placements just to fill beds
· Leadership structure plan: We will recruit Deputy/Senior leadership once Ofsted registration is approved to strengthen the management structure as the home moves into operation
On\-call expectations (clear and realistic)
· During pre\-registration, on\-call is not active (the home is not operational).
· Once operational, the Registered Manager will provide management on\-call, supported by the Nominated Individual and a clear escalation process.
· The on\-call arrangement will be formalised during mobilisation and strengthened further when the Deputy/Senior role is recruited following registration.
What You’ll Be Doing
1\) Pre\-Registration Leadership (SC1 / SC2\)
· Lead the home through the Ofsted registration process, including preparation and submission of SC1 and SC2
· Build and evidence readiness across: staffing plan, safer recruitment, training matrix, policies, systems, and quality assurance
· Work closely with the Nominated Individual and our consultant to ensure a smooth, inspection\-ready setup
· Create a strong, practical mobilisation plan that sets the home up for stability and quality from day one
2\) Leadership \& Team Management
· Recruit, induct, train and lead a team of therapeutic support workers
· Embed a positive, child\-centred culture aligned with our values
· Deliver effective supervision, appraisals, rotas, team meetings and performance management
· Ensure staff practice is safe, consistent and outcomes\-focused
3\) Compliance \& Quality Assurance
· Maintain full compliance with the Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015 and Quality Standards
· Implement quality assurance processes: audits, action plans, learning from incidents, and continuous improvement
· Ensure the home is inspection\-ready through strong evidence, systems and leadership
4\) Care \& Support Planning
· Oversee care planning, behaviour support approaches, and risk management
· Ensure consistent, meaningful key work and progress tracking for each young person
· Work effectively with education and health partners to promote positive outcomes
5\) Safeguarding \& Risk Management
· Act as the Designated Safeguarding Lead
· Ensure robust safeguarding systems, reporting, and reflective practice
· Manage incidents and concerns appropriately, ensuring learning and improvement
6\) Multi\-Agency Collaboration
· Build strong working relationships with social workers, IROs, families and professionals
· Represent the home confidently in meetings, reviews and planning discussions
· Advocate for the best interests of the young people and ensure plans are progressed
7\) Operational Oversight
· Ensure the home is safe, welcoming, well\-maintained and compliant with health \& safety expectations
· Oversee budgets, resources, records, and all required documentation/logs
· Ensure systems are efficient, the environment is therapeutic, and standards are consistently high
