What Is a GSA?

A Guest Services Assistant is a multi\-departmental role which covers Front Desk, Bar, Breakfast and Kitchen. A GSA’s role is to provide a friendly, warm and memorable welcome to hotel guests while ensuring their expectations and needs are met throughout their stay. A GSA must also be able to help assist with any guest queries, comments or complaints in a professional and calm manner.

What will I be doing?
As a Guest Services Assistant, you will assist in daily Front Office/Food \& Beverage/Kitchen operations.

On Reception, a GSA is responsible for managing the first impressions of our guests and therefore must perform the following tasks to the highest standards:

  • Assist the Duty Manager with daily Front Office/ Food \& Beverage operations

  • Provide prompt service and actively seek opportunities to drive guest satisfaction

  • Ensure that you are fully aware of any relevant feedback from either guests/ other departments

  • Manage, resolve or escalate any and all guest complaints quickly

  • Ensure all access to the hotel is secure as required by hotel policy and procedure.

  • Ensure a high level of product knowledge of the hotel and the local area

  • Respond to guest complaints, conduct research and resolve and negotiate solutions for guest satisfaction, as needed

  • Receive, input, retrieve and relay messages to guests, as needed
Within our bar operations, a GSA is responsible for the preparation and service of drinks whilst ensuring that the needs of our guests are met by providing excellent customer experience. A GSA must perform the following tasks to the highest standards:
  • Able to work in all areas of the Food and Beverage department including Kitchen

  • Welcome guests in a polite and friendly manner

  • Engage customers in conversation about their stay, day and plans to create a personal touch

  • Take and deliver customer orders, consistently demonstrating high levels of customer service

  • Manage guest queries in a timely and efficient manner

  • Ensure compliance of brand standards

  • Ensure cleanliness of all work areas

  • Ensure food hygiene and food safety is maintained to high standards in compliance with all legislation and operating procedures

  • Comply with hotel security, fire regulations and all health and safety legislation

  • Comply with local licensing laws

  • Assist other departments wherever necessary and maintain good working relationships
