Job Overview
Manage the commercial function of the business to optimise the financial performance through cost control and revenue maximisation. The role will include all commercial functions from point of project award, you will be involved in the handovers from Estimating and will take control of the financial reporting from that point, working with the QS and design team, you will have responsibility for the negotiation and procurement of sub\-contractor and labour only packages and recording and monitoring material expenditure. You will work closely with the finance team to report on debtors and track retentions with ultimate responsibility for the receipt of all cash. The role includes project budgeting and forecasting, you will be responsible on reporting project performance to the Directors, and this will include financial, safety, quality and programme.
Main Responsibilities
Financial Planning – Work with the Finance Team and senior stakeholders to agree forecasts, targets and budgets. Ensure sales targets are robust and that overheads are challenged as required so that the business realises it’s full financial potential.
Financial Review and Forecasting – Review of financial forecasts and budgets, monitoring variances throughout the year and ensuring corrective actions are taken to address divergence from budget.
Finance Risk Management – Regularly monitor the financial risks and advise the Directors on potential solutions so any risks can be mitigated. Responsibility for Insurance renewals and asset management is part of the role.
Finance Reporting – Lead the team to provide effective project\-specific financial reporting in a timely manner and ensure the Board of Directors have all the information they need to make decisions to drive the business forward.
Contractual Impacts and Risks – Reviewing contracts on receipt and advising impacts, risks and opportunities so they can be fully understood by the team
Cashflow \- Managing and updating the project cashflow and informing the Finance Manager of any forecast changes to ensure the business cashflow accuracy is maintained.
Commercial Project Management – Monitor and lead the review of revenue, budgets and costs of projects, ensuring accurate and timely valuations and invoicing, so that we maximise our working capital. Ensure that any commercial issues are resolved at the earliest opportunity by managing change control and variations.
Procurement – Manage the procurement of all materials, labour only and bona\-fide sub\-contractors while maintaining relationships with suppliers and sub\-contractors to ensure combined continual success.
Contract Management – Negotiate and monitor our ongoing contracts with suppliers and customers, managing and reviewing contracts ensuring ongoing commerciality is regularly reviewed. Ensure that any contract issues are resolved at the earliest opportunity.
Compliance – Working with the Finance Manager, ensure commercial and financial compliance with statutory and legal requirements to protect the business and ensure we’re meeting our obligations.
Job requirements
Main place of work will be at head office in Cambuslang, Glasgow. We are national business with projects throughout the UK and travel to site will be a requirement of the job as such we require a full UK driving licence.
A qualification in surveying or similar is preferred together with relevant industry experience
Pay: £65,000\.00 per year
