Quality Inspector - Fabrication (Sheet Metal & Welding)
Quality Inspector - Fabrication (Sheet Metal & Welding) - This is a hands-on, shop floor mechanical inspection, quality role inspecting fabricated sheet metal, welded and assembled parts (first-off through to final inspection). The role offers variety and responsibility: and involves stage inspections, non-conformance control, and producing clear inspection reports. You will get the chance to build exposure to First Article Inspection (FAI) to AS9102 standards and use quality systems such as Q-Pulse.
You will be working in a team at this established aerospace company with 5S standards and with close collaboration with Production teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Complete first-off, stage and final inspections of fabricated sheet metal, welded and assembled components.
- Ensure all work complies with customer requirements and industry specifications.
- Produce inspection reports and First Article Inspection documentation to AS9102 requirements.
- Identify and report non-conforming product and support MRB (Material Review Board) and RCCA (Root Cause Corrective Action) activity.
- Maintain inspection and quality records in the quality management system and keep documentation up to date.
- Measure components using hand tools (vernier calipers, micrometers, etc.) and verify against engineering drawings.
- Contribute to continuous improvement and quality initiatives.
- Maintain 5S (workplace organisation) and keep your area clean, neat and audit-ready.
- Fine-limit technical/inspection experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience using hand measurement tools (vernier, micrometer, etc.).
- Strong understanding of engineering drawings.
- Good attention to detail, communication skills, and problem-solving ability.
- Confident using PC/software systems.
