Role Purpose

The Quality Controller is responsible for ensuring the consistent delivery of food safety and quality standards across the production site. This role plays a key part in protecting the Avoca brand by embedding robust food safety practices, maintaining compliance, and driving continuous improvement within the Food Safety \& Quality Management System.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure full compliance with all food safety, legal, and internal standards, including the effective implementation and maintenance of the HACCP system.

  • Actively monitor the production floor to ensure products are manufactured safely, efficiently, and in line with approved SOPs and quality expectations.

  • Support the ongoing management and continuous improvement of the site's Food Safety \& Quality Management System.

  • Escalate any breakdowns or risks within the system to senior management in a timely and structured manner.

  • Maintain and support HACCP documentation, ensuring it remains accurate, up to date, and audit\-ready.

  • Lead the investigation of customer complaints, identifying root causes and working cross\-functionally to implement corrective actions.

  • Conduct internal audits, product testing, and verification activities to ensure ongoing compliance and standards are maintained.

  • Analyse and report on key quality metrics, including weekly and monthly reporting, identifying trends and areas for improvement.

  • Support the management and resolution of non\-conforming products and processes.

  • Work closely with the Food Safety \& Quality Manager to proactively identify and address risks.

  • Deliver internal training and ensure appropriate sign\-off and understanding across teams.

  • Ensure all activities are carried out in line with Avoca's Code of Conduct and company values.
Requirements / Desirable
  • Ability to reliably commute to Bray, Co. Wicklow.

  • Flexibility to support operational requirements, including cover for team members where needed.

  • Strong attention to detail with a structured and proactive approach to problem\-solving.

  • Experience working within a food production or retail food environment is desirable.

  • Knowledge of HACCP and food safety standards is highly desirable.
