Quality & Compliance Manager
About the Role
SER Contractor is seeking a highly organised and proactive Quality \& Compliance Manager\- Construction and Social Housing to join our head office team in Epping.
As a growing, family\-owned construction contractor working across the social housing sector, maintaining high standards of compliance is essential to our business. The successful candidate will take responsibility for ensuring our licences, accreditations, insurance policies, certifications and company records remain accurate, up to date and compliant with regulatory and contractual requirements.
The role would suit someone who takes pride in producing accurate work, is confident managing multiple deadlines and can proactively identify and address compliance requirements across the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Take ownership of the company’s compliance systems, records and documentation (ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 IMS), including internal audit programme, management reviews, NCRs and corrective actions.
- Preparation and coordination of external certification audits (Achilles UVDB, Constructionline Gold, CHAS, SafeContractor) and other PQQ/accreditation renewals.
- Maintaining policies, procedures, registers, training/competency evidence and compliance documentation.
- Supporting H\&S documentation, RAMS, COSHH, temporary works, lifting/work\-at\-height and CDM compliance alongside operational management.
- Monitoring site compliance and carrying out periodic internal audits.
- Tracking NCRs, observations and corrective actions through to closure.
- Supporting tender submissions with compliance/accreditation evidence.
- Maintaining a continuous state of audit readiness, rather than pulling documentation together immediately before an audit.
- Monitor and coordinate renewals for licences, accreditations, memberships, insurance policies and certifications
- Maintain compliance portals and client and supplier prequalification systems
- Ensure company policies and procedures remain current and reflect relevant legal, regulatory and contractual requirements
- Maintain accurate employee training, competency and certification records
- Support internal and external audits, assessments and accreditation renewals
- Identify upcoming expiry dates, compliance gaps and required actions
- Liaise with managers and departments to obtain outstanding information and evidence
- Maintain an organised central library of policies, certificates and supporting documents
- Assist with reviewing incidents, non\-conformances and corrective actions
- Provide compliance information and documentation required for bids, tenders and client submissions
- Keep management informed of regulatory changes and any potential compliance risks
- Support wider head office administration when required
- Previous experience in SME business compliance management or a similar role
- Experience within construction, social housing or a contractor\-based environment
- Strong knowledge of compliance processes, audits, accreditations and document control
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong organisational and time\-management skills
- Ability to manage multiple renewals, deadlines and priorities
- Confident communicating with employees, clients, auditors and external organisations
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Excel and Outlook
- Experience using compliance, accreditation or client portals
- A proactive approach with the confidence to follow up outstanding actions

- Consultant and specialist engagement to maintain business accreditation
Salary: 30 to £45,000 \+ Career Progression
