Locum Social Worker - Children with Disabilities Location: Slough
Rate: £38 per hour
Working pattern: Hybrid - 3 days in Slough/office, 2 days from home

Experienced Children's Social Worker - CWD Team We are currently recruiting for an experienced Children's Social Worker to join the Children with Disabilities (CWD) Team at Slough Children First.

This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified social worker looking for a rewarding locum position within a supportive service, offering hybrid working, flexible arrangements and the opportunity to make a real difference to children and families.

About the role The Children with Disabilities service is made up of three specialist areas:

  • Occupational Therapy

  • Assessment and Review

  • Safeguarding and Support - Active Casework

This vacancy is within the Safeguarding and Support - Active Casework area.

You will hold a varied caseload of children and young people with disabilities, providing ongoing assessment, intervention and support. You will work directly with children, young people and their families, helping to identify needs, manage risk and achieve positive outcomes.

Key responsibilities As a Children's Social Worker, you will:

  • Safeguard and promote the wellbeing and interests of children and young people.

  • Manage an independent caseload, ensuring statutory requirements and timescales are met.

  • Undertake thorough assessments and use critical analysis and professional judgement when working with complex cases.

  • Develop and implement effective plans and interventions, managing risk appropriately.

  • Produce high-quality assessments, reports and plans, clearly recording analysis, decisions and recommendations.

  • Undertake meaningful direct work with children, young people and families, ensuring their views and wishes inform decision-making.

  • Work collaboratively with parents, carers, colleagues and partner agencies to achieve positive outcomes.

  • Maintain accurate, up-to-date and evidence-based case records.

  • Ensure effective transfer and transition arrangements where cases move between services.

  • Participate in supervision, training, auditing and practice development.

  • Build effective relationships with partner agencies and contribute to a joined-up approach to supporting children and families.

  • Promote an inclusive, anti-discriminatory and child-focused approach to social work practice.

What we're looking for The successful candidate will have:
  • Registration with Social Work England.

  • A recognised Social Work qualification, or equivalent.

  • Demonstrable post-qualifying experience within children's social care.

  • Experience managing a caseload within children's services.

  • Strong assessment, analytical and report-writing skills.

  • Experience working with children, young people and families with complex needs.

  • The ability to build strong professional relationships and work effectively with partner agencies.

  • Confidence managing risk and working within statutory frameworks.

  • A genuine commitment to improving outcomes for children and young people.
