Reports To: Electrical Project Manager

Role Overview

Our client seeks a Quality Control (QC) Qualified Electrician to inspect, assess, and verify existing Motor Control Centre (MCC) control panels within operational Wastewater Treatment Plants (WWTPs), Water Treatment Plants (WTPs), and Pumping Stations — mainly within County Cork and occasionally surrounding counties.

The successful candidate will ensure installations comply with Safe Electric standards, the National Rules for Electrical Installations (ET101 / I.S. 10101\), and all relevant Irish electrical regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct detailed inspections of existing MCC control panels and associated electrical systems.

  • Verify compliance with:

  • Safe Electric requirements

  • I.S. 10101 (National Rules for Electrical Installations)

  • ETCI regulations

  • EN 60204\-1 (Safety of Machinery – Electrical Equipment of Machines) where applicable

  • Assess earthing, bonding, circuit protection, cable sizing, segregation, and labelling.

  • Inspect panel build quality, IP ratings, ventilation, and arc flash considerations.

  • Verify correct protection coordination and discrimination.

  • Identify non\-conformances and issue detailed inspection reports.

  • Recommend corrective actions and remediation works.

  • Undertake thermal imaging.

  • Liaise with site engineers, operations teams, and project managers.

  • Ensure all works are carried out in compliance with health \& safety legislation.

  • Maintain accurate documentation for audit and certification purposes.
Required Qualifications \& Experience
  • Fully Qualified QC Registered Electrician (Ireland) – National Craft Certificate.

  • Holder of valid Safe Pass.

  • Registered Electrical Contractor (REC) or experience working under REC framework preferred.

  • Strong working knowledge of:

  • Safe Electric regulations

  • I.S. 10101 (ET101\)

  • ETCI standards

  • Minimum 3 years' post\-qualification experience.

  • Proven experience working on:

  • MCC panels

  • Industrial control systems

  • Water/Wastewater facilities (desirable)

  • Experience in inspection, testing, and certification.

  • Competent in insulation resistance testing, loop impedance testing, RCD testing, and fault finding.

  • Ability to interpret electrical drawings and control schematics.

  • Full clean Irish driving licence.
Desirable
  • Experience with PLC\-controlled systems.

  • Familiarity with Uisce Éireann (Irish Water) specifications.

  • Knowledge of Arc Flash risk assessments.

  • QA/QC background in industrial environments.

  • CompEx certified.
