Permanent | £70,000

We’re partnering with a leading organisation undergoing significant technology transformation to appoint an experienced Senior Developer.

This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong developer with expertise across AWS, Terraform, Ansible, GitHub Actions and Python. You’ll play a key role in designing, deploying and managing automation and monitoring platforms, while helping teams maintain consistent standards and implement best practices across multiple technologies.

The Opportunity

As Senior Developer, you’ll help drive the automation, monitoring and continuous improvement of critical applications and services.

You’ll work closely with the Tech Lead, Technical Delivery Manager and wider engineering teams to deliver reliable, secure and scalable solutions. This is a hands-on role requiring someone who can troubleshoot at a low level, standardise technical solutions and confidently operate within a complex, fast-moving environment.

Key Responsibilities

You’ll play a key role in supporting technical delivery by:

  • Driving the design, deployment and management of automation and monitoring platforms.

  • Establishing and maintaining best practices across security, compliance and cost management.

  • Building and maintaining monitoring and alerting infrastructure and configurations.

  • Developing dashboards that clearly communicate key information to business stakeholders.

  • Configuring automation for new system integrations using existing custom frameworks.

  • Managing job configurations through Control-M scheduling.

  • Developing new automated processes using strong programming knowledge.

  • Supporting capacity planning and troubleshooting across infrastructure and application platforms.

  • Building GitHub Actions automations to deploy code into test and production environments.

  • Working with technical leadership to break down epics and stories into manageable tasks.

  • Collaborating with Product Owners, Business Analysts and Delivery Managers to shape and refine the backlog.

  • Ensuring work is delivered to the required quality standards and ticket statuses remain accurate and up to date.
About You

You’ll be an experienced developer with strong cloud, automation and programming expertise, alongside the communication skills to collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

You will also have:

  • Strong practical experience with AWS, Terraform and Ansible.

  • Experience using ECS, Fargate and Docker to build and manage containerised applications.

  • Experience with serverless AWS technologies such as Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB and EventBridge.

  • Strong object-oriented programming skills in Python, including experience developing Lambda functions or complex automation scripts.

  • Practical knowledge of CI/CD workflows, code linting and GitHub Actions.

  • Significant experience with low-level Unix or Linux administration and troubleshooting.

  • Experience with application monitoring tools such as AppDynamics.

  • Administration experience with observability and infrastructure tools such as Sensu, Logz.io, Consul, HashiCorp Vault, Grafana, Graphite or InfluxDB, or equivalent technologies.

  • Experience with ServiceNow ITOM would be advantageous.

  • A strong understanding of networking and web technologies, including TCP/IP, HTTP, HTTPS, RESTful APIs, certificates and encryption.

  • Some web development experience using Node.js, Java or an equivalent modern technology.

  • Experience using Jira and Confluence for project management and collaboration.

  • A basic understanding of Microsoft Azure services.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess risks and recommend effective mitigation actions.

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate across teams and levels of seniority.

  • A proactive, self-motivated approach and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

  • The ability to manage ambiguity, competing requirements and changing priorities.

  • A genuine commitment to consistency, modernisation and automation.
Why Apply?

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a major technology transformation and make a meaningful contribution to the development of secure, scalable and highly automated platforms.

In return, you’ll benefit from:

  • A salary of £70,000.

  • 26 days of annual leave, two additional wellbeing days and bank holidays.

  • £500 annual wellness allowance.

  • Access to nutritional advisers and personal trainers.
