The International School of The Hague (ISH) is a diverse and internationally minded learning community of approximately 550 students aged 4–11\. As part of the Rijnlands Lyceum Foundation, ISH Primary shares a beautiful campus with ISH Secondary in Kijkduin, The Hague.
We are seeking a relational, reflective and collaborative PYP Teacher (Upper Primary) to join our team as we continue our journey implementing the Primary Years Programme as a candidate school. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in developing inquiry learning, guiding students through the PYP Exhibition (PYPX) and strengthening transition into the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP).
Requirements
- The successful candidate will have:
- Permission to live and work in the European Union (EU passport or valid Dutch work visa)
- A recognised teaching qualification (Bachelor in Primary Education or PGCE with Qualified Teacher Status)
- Proven experience teaching students aged 8–11 (Years 4–6\)
- Experience with inquiry\-based and concept\-driven learning aligned with the IB PYP framework
- Experience with collaborative curriculum design and transdisciplinary learning
- A proven track record of successfully mentoring, scaffolding, or coordinating students through the extensive inquiry projects
- Strong understanding of the academic and pastoral transition between primary and secondary school
- Excellent spoken and written English
Key Responsibilities
Inquiry \& Curriculum
- Deliver engaging, inquiry\-driven learning experiences aligned with the IB PYP framework and school’s curriculum standards
- Foster student agency, voice, choice and critical thinking
- Collaboratively plan, assess and reflect with colleagues to ensure coherent, transdisciplinary and engaging inquiry learning
- Use observation, assessment and feedback effectively to support student growth
PYP Exhibition \& Transition
- Guide and support students in preparation for the PYP Exhibition (PYPX)
- Collaborate with Upper Primary and Lower Secondary colleagues to support a smooth transition into the MYP programme
- Support the development of students’ Approaches to Learning (ATL) skills and the attributes of the ISH community profile
Inclusion \& Wellbeing
- Use inclusive and differentiated practices to support multilingual learners and students with diverse learning needs
- Support students’ academic, social and emotional development
- Build positive relationships with students, families and colleagues within a diverse international community
- Utilize inclusive practices, self\-regulation techniques and differentiated behaviour management strategies
- Promote multilingualism, intercultural understanding and sustainability
Professional Collaboration
- Engage actively in professional learning, reflection and collaborative inquiry
- Contribute positively to the wider school community through events and activities
- Work collaboratively within teaching teams and professional learning communities
