C\-Tec is an electronics manufacturer of quality, life\-safety equipment, specialising in fire alarms, induction loop systems and disabled refuge systems.

We are looking for a Purchasing Assistant to join our team, based in our state of the art manufacturing facility in Wigan, working Monday to Friday, 8:30 \- 5pm. The main responsibility of our Purchasing Assistant is to ensure that parts are readily available for our production team, by managing suppliers, lead times, stock levels and costs.

Other duties may include:

  • Interpreting Material Requirements Planning (M.R.P) reports and acting upon the recommendations.

  • Placing \& processing orders.

  • Negotiating prices with suppliers.

  • Ensuring data is accurate and up to date.

  • Reporting and acting upon non\-conformances in line with the quality system.

  • Managing lead times.

  • Coordinating orders from the point of placing the order to delivery.

  • Effectively and efficiently responding to and resolving any discrepancies that may arise.

  • Communicating to internal and external stakeholders.

  • Establishing and maintaining strong profession relationships with suppliers and internal customers.

  • Identifying and investigating potential savings areas.

  • Activate and manage the component approval process.

  • Manage changes in suppliers and parts to cause minimum disruption to the production department and its customers.
Person Specification
To be successful in this role you will need to:
  • Have strong planning, organisation and monitoring abilities.

  • Enjoy a challenge, have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate at all levels.

  • Have a high standard of numeracy.

  • Be computer literate.

  • Have strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Have a strong orientation towards quality, safety and continuous improvement.

  • Have the ability to prioritize workload and work well under pressure, to meet deadlines and manage business expectations.

  • Be adaptable and flexible in your approach to work.

  • Have an eye for detail.

  • Have an understanding of M.R.P, desirable but not essential.

  • Have an understanding of electronics, desirable but not essential.

  • Have previous purchasing or supply chain experience, desirable but not essential.

  • A legal right to work in the UK.
