Toast Office Pubs Ltd is an independent pub company that owns and runs The Kings Head in Horley. We absolutely love pubs, so we thought we’d get a few for ourselves.
We’re now looking for an experienced Pub Manager to take full ownership of the day\-to\-day running of the business.
This role carries full responsibility for the day\-to\-day operation and performance of the pub.
This is a senior position with real responsibility, clear accountability, and a salary to match. You’ll have hands\-on support from ownership, without corporate layers or unnecessary process.
This is an opportunity to run the busiest and best pub in Horley.
The Role
You are responsible for ensuring the pub operates efficiently, profitably, and to a consistently high standard.
You will be expected to make decisions, lead the team effectively, and take ownership of outcomes across the business.
Key ResponsibilitiesOverall Management
- Full responsibility for the day\-to\-day running of the pub
- Acting as the senior manager on site
- Maintaining standards across service, food, cleanliness, and compliance
- Leading from the front and being visible during service
- Recruiting, managing, and developing a team of 20\+ staff
- Managing rotas, staffing levels, and performance
- Setting clear expectations and supporting people to meet them
- Addressing performance concerns constructively and professionally
- Ensuring a consistently high standard of customer experience
- Managing busy services calmly and effectively
- Handling customer complaints and feedback appropriately
- Managing and responding to customer reviews in a professional and constructive way
- Ensuring the pub runs smoothly day to day
- Working closely with the Kitchen Manager on menus and new ideas
- Maintaining high food quality and presentation standards
- Ensuring full compliance with EHO requirements and retaining a 5\-star food hygiene rating
- Responsibility for stock control, ordering, and supplier relationships
- Managing costs, margins, and wastage
- Overseeing company expenses and basic financial controls
- Full responsibility for compliance with the Licensing Act 2003
- Ensuring all licensing objectives are met
- Managing health \& safety and food safety standards
- Acting as the point of contact for authorities when required
- Proven experience as a Pub Manager or in a senior hospitality management role
- Holds a Personal Licence (essential)
- Driven to succeed and take ownership of results
- Comfortable being fully accountable for a venue
- Strong leadership skills with a practical, hands\-on approach
- Able to manage people, standards, and pressure effectively
- Organised, decisive, and consistent
- Passionate about pubs and hospitality
