The Royal College of General Practitioners is the largest membership organisation solely for GPs in the United Kingdom. Founded in 1952, it has over 55,000 members who are committed to improving patient care, developing their own skills and promoting general practice as a discipline. General practice is the largest branch of the medical profession. It provides some 1 million consultations for patients in the UK every working day and deals with 86% of the health problems experienced by the UK population.

We are seeking a Projects \& Initiatives Team Manager (job share) to lead a diverse portfolio of externally funded programmes. This is a strategic and hands\-on role, responsible for designing, delivering and evaluating initiatives that support GPs at all stages of their careers.

You will manage projects from development through to completion, ensuring strong governance, robust financial management, and clear evidence of impact. The role also involves securing new funding opportunities and building partnerships that align with our charitable aims.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead and support a small team, fostering a collaborative and inclusive culture

  • Oversee delivery of multiple projects, ensuring they are on time, within budget, and effectively evaluated

  • Manage project budgets (total circa £620k) and reporting requirements

  • Develop high\-quality funding bids and proposals

  • Build relationships with stakeholders including NHS bodies, Scottish Government and partners

  • Promote and communicate project impact to maximise engagement
About you

You will be a strategic, organised and values\-driven professional with experience in delivering projects and working collaboratively across sectors.

You will bring:

  • Proven project or programme management experience

  • Experience of team leadership or line management

  • Strong financial management and reporting skills

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills

  • Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver to deadlines
Desirable:
  • Knowledge of primary care, NHS or health policy

  • Experience in the charity or membership sector

  • Project management qualification
