The Bartlett Development Planning Unit (DPU) at University College London (UCL) is an international centre specialising in academic teaching, practical training, research and consultancy in the fields of urban and regional development and planning. It is concerned with promoting sustainable forms of development, understanding rapid urbanisation and encouraging innovation in the policy, planning and management responses to the economic, social and environmental development of cities and regions, especially in Asia, Africa, Latin America and the Middle East.
About the role

About the DPU Social Venture The Bartlett Development Planning Unit (DPU) is established as a global leader in applied research, methodology development, and capacity building around inclusive development planning. The DPU is setting up a social venture to support clients with an interest in inclusive development planning, and at the same time further the DPU mission. This initiative responds to a growing demand for inclusive and sustainable urban planning methodologies, particularly in the “Global South”. The social venture will support the commercialisation of a set of methodologies, tools and training materials developed through DPU’s research and advisory services portfolio. These include approaches to disability and youth\-inclusive planning, gender planning training, executive education on inclusive infrastructure, technical guidance, inclusive governance monitoring and urban equality methods. The Project Manager will play a key role in the establishment and growth of the new Community Interest Company (CIC). This position will support the company setup activities, development of new client opportunities, consultancy projects developing strategic partnerships, and driving early\-stage projects from concept through implementation.
About you

The role requires an enthusiastic individual, who is passionate about inclusive planning, and comfortable working in a start\-up environment, contributing across strategy, operations, and business development. This post is for a start on 1st June and is full time on a fixed term contract for 12 months.
