JTH Recruitment are recruiting for our reputable engineering client who are looking for an experienced engineer, preferably from the food sector, to join their successful operation to contribute to the quality of their service. Working with an established team of dynamic Project Engineers, dealing with “whole life cycle” project management & engineering within the food processing industry. A large portion of the role is project management so they are also open to coach the successful candidate on how they do things and the equipment they provide, the required attribute is a self-starter that knows how to get things done and can manage the critical path.

My clients’ projects current spread includes UK, Continental Europe, USA, Middle East, Africa & Central Asia.

They follow a partnership travel security policy with our customers.

The project engineer responsibilities include:

  • Leading & driving the project timeline

  • Working with the customer to establish working line layout and agreeing KPI’s, work with the customer standards

  • Conducting detailed & effective site surveys

  • Leading & owning the equipment layouts & design approval process

  • Delivering all necessary reporting & documentation to the customer, driving push-pull requirements

  • Internal project progress reporting, following our project protocol

  • Selecting & sourcing equipment from our own range of products and our partner companies

  • Generate P&ID’s & PFD’s to interface with system integrators

  • Leading supplier tendering, negotiations and equipment purchasing

  • Commercial ownership of invoicing timing, project cost tracking and monitoring including in-project variations

  • Conduct our own internal fabrication quality and pre-assembly inspections and those with the client prior to despatch

  • Documentation gathering for manual compilation and training purposes

  • Ensuring all necessary certification is in place

  • Leading shipping of equipment in concert with our Logistics Team

Candidates can expect a typical split of approximately 75% office-based activities and 25% on-site, although this split can vary depending on the scale and nature of project allocations made. The number of project allocations depends on the size & scope of each. Site involvement can vary from project to project but might involve a series of 1-2 day site meetings, then a period of 12 hour days 7 days/week; some projects involving 2-3 week installation period, others could be up to 9 weeks with suitable breaks. All planned well in advance.

The Package Working with a dynamic team of enthusiastic engineers working under own initiative in a professional open-plan office environment and reporting to the engineering department lead.

A competitive base salary, dependant on experience & ability, with P60 earnings generally higher (20-50%) through overtime

Weekday overtime (when on site) of x1, Weekend overtime of x1.5 and Bank Holidays @ x2

Discretionary bonus dependent company & employee performance.

Company car for business and private use. Running costs paid by the company with private mileage paid by the user. We also offer an alternate car allowance scheme.

26 days holiday Jan-Dec + public holidays.

Other working tools such as mobile phone, AutoCAD laptop computer & additional monitors at office workstation are provided.

Candidate Attributes Eligible to work in UK

Preferably HNC/HND or above qualification in engineering

Ideally 3 years industry/field experience

Good understanding of machinery processes and design with a logical approach

A good balance of pre-engineering experience and “hands-on” engineering aptitude

Dynamic, enthusiastic and flexible approach and willing to travel (at times on extended durations, planned and agreed well in advance)

Excellent Commercial awareness

Excellent people skills and clear communicator with the ability to form strong customer and peer relationships

Computer literate with good working knowledge of the following:

Microsoft Project & Office range of programs

Ideally AutoCAD conversant to support generation of P&ID’s, layout modification and drawing interpretation
