At MBC we continue to grow, and we are currently looking for a Wind\-Down Project Manager to support the final stages of a strategic credit card portfolio wind\-down project within an innovative financial services environment.

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Wind\-Down Project Manager to coordinate and drive the successful closure of a consumer credit card product following the sale of its customer portfolio. This is a hands\-on role requiring strong project management capabilities, excellent stakeholder management skills, and the ability to operate effectively across multiple workstreams in a dynamic environment.

You will work closely with Product Operations, Service Delivery, Technology, Compliance, Operations teams, and external partners to ensure all remaining activities are completed in an organized, timely, and compliant manner.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the primary coordinator for incoming queries from the debt purchaser regarding the transferred customer portfolio.

  • Manage investigations relating to account enquiries, balance disputes, document requests, statements of account, and affordability\-related complaints.

  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders to obtain and validate information required for customer investigations and regulatory responses.

  • Work with Product and Engineering teams to define and execute the decommissioning strategy for the credit card technology stack.

  • Coordinate decisions regarding data retention, historical customer records, statement generation capabilities, and ongoing accessibility requirements.

  • Oversee the retirement of systems, services, and applications that are no longer required while ensuring regulatory obligations are maintained.

  • Manage and track the closure and offboarding of multiple third\-party suppliers and service providers.

  • Ensure supplier notice periods, contractual obligations, data retention requirements, and closure activities are completed successfully.

  • Coordinate the suspension and closure of remaining customer accounts.

  • Oversee processes related to payments received after portfolio sale and ensure funds are transferred appropriately.

  • Support the closure of customer service channels and ensure customer communications are updated accordingly.

  • Coordinate operational wrap\-up activities, including in\-credit balance returns and resolution of unallocated payments.

  • Support the preparation and submission of final regulatory reporting requirements.

  • Maintain project plans, governance documentation, status reporting, and stakeholder communications throughout the engagement.
Requirements
  • Proven experience as a Project Manager delivering complex initiatives involving multiple concurrent workstreams.

  • Previous experience within financial services, preferably in consumer lending, credit cards, banking, fintech, or debt portfolio management environments.

  • Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to work across operational, technical, regulatory, and third\-party teams.

  • Experience managing supplier relationships, offboarding activities, and operational transition projects.

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities effectively.

  • Comfortable working with customer data, operational reports, and investigation outputs.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to work autonomously and quickly understand new business contexts.

  • Professional level of English.
Nice to Have
  • Experience with credit card operations, consumer lending, or debt sale processes.

  • Knowledge of CAIS reporting, affordability assessments, credit reference agency obligations, and collections processes.

  • Understanding of FCA consumer credit regulations, Consumer Duty requirements, and UK GDPR obligations.

  • Experience in technology decommissioning, operational closure, or business wind\-down projects.

  • Familiarity with platforms such as Zendesk and other fintech service providers.
