Project Manager Construction Consultancy

A specialist project management consultancy is looking for a Project Manager to join its Southampton team, working on a strong pipeline of higher education projects. This is an excellent opportunity for a Project Manager who enjoys complex, stakeholder-led environments and wants to work as part of an established team delivering major university schemes.

The Project Manager can be based anywhere, provided they are comfortable travelling to Southampton two to three days per week. This Project Manager role would suit a capable Project Manager who is confident managing programmes, risks, consultants, contractors, and client stakeholders. The successful Project Manager will join a team of around six to seven professionals and play an important role in the successful delivery of higher education projects from early stages through to completion.

You must have prior construction consultancy experience to be considered for this role.

The Project Manager's role The Project Manager will lead and support higher education projects across Southampton, working closely with the wider project management team.

The Project Manager will be responsible for programme management, consultant coordination, procurement, risk management, change control, project reporting, stakeholder engagement, and contractor liaison.

The Project Manager will chair meetings, coordinate multidisciplinary teams, monitor project actions, and ensure project information is managed clearly and efficiently. Working within an active university environment will require strong organisation and the ability to manage academic, operational, technical, and construction stakeholders.

The Project Manager The successful Project Manager will have:

• Prior experience working within a construction consultancy


• Higher education, education, public sector, or similar project experience


• Experience delivering projects through pre-contract and construction stages


• A degree in Project Management, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Building Surveying, or a related discipline


• MRICS, MAPM, MCIOB, or progress towards a relevant professional qualification


• Good knowledge of JCT and/or NEC contracts


• Strong programme, risk, and stakeholder management skills


• Excellent communication and client-facing abilities


• The ability to attend projects in Southampton two to three days per week
