About The Role

Project Manager

Had\-Fab is a growing engineering and fabrication business delivering major projects across the UK’s energy and infrastructure sectors.

We’re currently going through a significant period of growth, expansion and investment, strengthening our operations across multiple sites in Scotland and continuing to build our capability to support an expanding project portfolio worth hundreds of millions of pounds.

As part of this growth, we’re looking for an experienced Project Manager to join our Projects team and take full ownership of major projects from pre\-contract and award through to successful completion.

This is a key position at the heart of Had\-Fab’s project delivery, working across Engineering, Design, Commercial, Planning and Operations, while acting as a key point of contact for our clients, suppliers and subcontractors.

The Role

Reporting to the Head of Projects, you’ll be responsible for ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget and to the required quality and contractual standards.

You’ll take ownership of the complete project lifecycle, developing project plans, coordinating cross\-functional teams, managing risk and change, monitoring commercial performance and maintaining strong relationships with our clients.

This is an opportunity for an experienced Project Manager who enjoys being close to the operation, solving problems and taking real accountability for project delivery.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Lead projects from pre\-contract and contract award through execution, delivery and close\-out.

  • Develop and manage project programmes, milestones, resources and deliverables.

  • Take ownership of project performance against programme, budget, quality and contractual requirements.

  • Coordinate Engineering, Design, Planning, Commercial, Production and Operations teams.

  • Chair project kick\-offs, progress reviews and coordination meetings.

  • Maintain clear communication with clients throughout the project lifecycle.

  • Identify, assess and manage project risks before they impact delivery.

  • Manage contract changes, including Early Warnings, Compensation Events and Variations, alongside Commercial and Planning.

  • Monitor project costs, forecasts, cashflow and overall commercial performance.

  • Protect project margins through effective cost and change management.

  • Manage and coordinate subcontractors and suppliers.

  • Monitor project schedules and take action where delivery begins to fall behind programme.

  • Conduct site visits and engage directly with clients, suppliers and subcontractors.

  • Maintain accurate project documentation, forecasts and performance reporting.

  • Ensure project activities meet relevant HSEQ, contractual and regulatory requirements.

  • Support the development of RAMS, ITPs and lift plans with the appropriate teams.

  • Drive accountability across project teams and ensure actions are followed through.

  • Identify lessons learned and opportunities to improve future project delivery.
What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for an experienced Project Manager who can combine strong project controls with practical operational and commercial awareness.

Ideally, you’ll have:

  • Proven Project Management experience within manufacturing, engineering, construction or a similar environment.

  • A strong track record of delivering complex projects on time and within budget.

  • Experience within steel fabrication, structural steel, construction or heavy engineering would be highly advantageous.

  • Strong project planning and scheduling capability.

  • Experience using Microsoft Project or similar planning tools.

  • Experience managing project budgets, forecasts and cost performance.

  • Good understanding of contract management and change\-control processes.

  • Experience managing Early Warnings, Compensation Events or Variations would be advantageous.

  • Strong commercial awareness and understanding of how project decisions impact margin and business performance.

  • Experience identifying and managing project risks.

  • Strong client and stakeholder management skills.

  • Confidence working across multiple departments and influencing without direct line\-management authority.

  • Excellent organisation and communication skills.

  • Knowledge of HSEQ requirements within engineering, manufacturing or construction.

  • The ability to manage multiple priorities within a fast\-paced environment.
