Job description

This role is mainly based in the Cork office, though the successful candidate should expect to travel to sites as required depending on the projects being undertaken. This is a hands\-on coordination role working directly with the Managing Director and senior management on refurbishment, fit\-out, upgrade and development projects. The successful candidate will be a practical, proactive and highly organised individual who can take an initial idea, brief or instruction and progress it independently through to completion. The role will involve coordinating several projects, contractors and suppliers at the same time, while keeping the Managing Director clearly updated on progress, programme, costs and any decisions required.

Duties:

  • Work directly with the Director on refurbishment, fit\-out, upgrade and development projects.

  • Take projects from an initial idea, brief or requirement and coordinate them through to completion.

  • Attend sites, meet contractors and clearly communicate the scope and required works.

  • Obtain, review and compare quotations and provide clear cost information for approval.

  • Coordinate contractors and trades including painters, electricians, joiners, flooring contractors, signage companies and other specialists.

  • Prepare and coordinate project schedules, sequencing works to minimise disruption to ongoing operations.

  • Source and order materials and other project requirements.

  • Review samples, colours, finishes and product options and present suitable choices for approval.

  • Liaise with designers, consultants, contractors and suppliers regarding drawings, specifications, finishes and changes.

  • Monitor works on site and check that they are being completed in line with the agreed scope, quality and finish.

  • Follow up on outstanding works, quotations, deliveries, defects and snagging items to ensure timely close\-out, completion and handover.

  • Track project costs and keep the Director and relevant management informed of additional or emerging costs.

  • Resolve day\-to\-day issues that arise during works, using sound judgement and escalating key decisions where required.
Requirements:
  • Relevant construction, project, technical or trade experience/qualifications would be an advantage, but practical experience and capability are equally important.

  • Strong organisational and coordination skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects, contractors and priorities at the same time.

  • A practical, proactive and hands\-on approach, with the ability to take an idea or instruction and drive it through to completion.

  • Confident working closely with multiple stakeholders and senior management, while progressing day\-to\-day matters independently.

  • Comfortable dealing directly with contractors, suppliers, designers, consultants and site teams.

  • Good understanding of quotations, costs, purchasing and general construction/fit\-out terminology.

  • Able to read and understand basic drawings, layouts, specifications and finishes.

  • Good eye for interiors, finishes, quality and presentation.

  • Strong communication and follow\-up skills, with the confidence to chase actions, get answers and keep projects moving.

  • Confident making day\-to\-day decisions, solving practical issues and knowing when something needs to be escalated.

  • Good attention to detail and able to identify where works have not been completed as agreed.

  • Comfortable carrying out regular site visits and following works through on site.

  • Good computer skills, including email, quotations, schedules, reports and cost tracking.

  • Full driving licence required due to travel between sites.
Benefits: Competitive Salary, Private Health Insurance, Pension Contribution, Death in Service Insurance and On\-site Gym
