Project Controls Manager
About the role
Balfour Beatty has a unique opportunity for a Project Controls Manager to join our Planning Team based in Derby, supporting the delivery of a landmark secure building and infrastructure programme at Raynesway.
Working on site from concept through to construction and handover, you’ll play a key role in managing project controls across a complex, high\-profile scheme. This includes major infrastructure enabling works, new manufacturing and office facilities, and the redevelopment of existing industrial assets.
This project forms part of Balfour Beatty’s appointment as construction partner for Rolls\-Royce’s expansion programme in Derby – a long\-term investment driven by increased demand from the MOD and the international AUKUS agreement. Spanning the next eight years, this programme offers the opportunity to contribute to a transformation of national significance.

What you'll be doing
- Support the Project Director and Planning Team in leading the project controls function on a large, complex secure building and infrastructure project
- Report directly to the Planning Lead for the project
- Develop and maintain robust, innovative project controls systems
- Collaborate closely with the Client team, interfacing with their controls systems and programme data
- Operate within the Primavera P6 environment alongside the wider planning and project controls team
- Produce baseline management outputs, including earned value analysis and reporting for both project and Client
- Deliver performance, productivity and forecast analysis reports at varying levels of detail
- Provide leadership, mentoring and support to planning team members at different stages of their careers
- An experienced Project Controls Manager capable of leading the controls’ function and supporting the wider team.
- Competent in delivering the project controls function within an NEC contract.
- Strong communication skills, ability to be customer facing.
- Provide critical analysis of the projects programme and controls.
- Previous experience working within an environment delivering complex buildings with complex services is desirable.
- Understanding of baseline management, change control and earned value analysis in construction is essential.
- Good understanding of risk and opportunity management with reference to planning/programme and controls.
- Excellent and innovative technical ability with capability to work beyond industry norms.
- Skilled with Primavera P6 planning software including resource management.
- An OND/HND/Degree in a relevant subject is desired.
