The HR Data, Technology \& AI (DTA) Lab is a central service within the Department for Transport, delivering data\-led, digital and AI\-enabled solutions to improve how people services operate, make decisions and deliver outcomes.
This role will lead a multidisciplinary team to deliver key elements of the DTA Lab strategy over a 12\-month period, working with AI and digital innovation. Youll play a key role in ensuring delivery is well\-planned, evidence\-led and focused on outcomes, working across HR, Digital, Data Science and corporate functions.

Job description
This is a hands\-on digital programme delivery role focused on leading delivery of data, technology and process improvement initiatives within a fast\-paced and innovative environment.
Your responsibilities will include, but arent limited to:
- Leading delivery of a portfolio of data, technology and process improvement initiatives
- Ensuring delivery is outcome\-focused, with clear plans, milestones and performance measures
- Managing risks, blockers and dependencies across teams and functions
- Leading a multidisciplinary team, including Fast Streamers and cross\-functional roles
- Translating technical and process concepts into clear delivery activity
- Driving continuous improvement across services and processes
- Using data and insight to inform decisions, develop business cases and influence stakeholders
- Building strong relationships across HR, Digital, Commercial and corporate functions

Person specification
Essential qualifications:
- Formal Project Delivery or GDAD qualification such as Agile Practitioner, Lean Six Sigma, ITIL V4 or equivalent
Required experience:
To be successful in this role you will need to have the following experience:
- Delivering complex programmes, projects or services in a data, digital or process\-driven environment
- Leading and motivating multidisciplinary teams, driving delivery through others
- Applying structured delivery or improvement methodologies (e.g. Agile, Lean or similar)
- Using data and insight to inform decisions, shape delivery and influence stakeholders
- Managing delivery across organisational boundaries, including resolving dependencies and risks
This post is offered on a Fixed Term Appointment (FTA) basis to complete a finite piece of work.
For permanent Civil Servants, this role is only available on loan, so you must have your home departments approval to return to them at the end of the loan before you apply. There is no opportunity for a permanent Civil Servant to take on this role as a fixed term appointment. OGD applicants will be appointed on an inward loan and subject to the terms of the agreed inward loan. Internal candidates will return to their previous post at the end of the loan period, which will need to be agreed with your line manager in advance.
If you're employed by a non\-departmental public body (NDPB) by moving jobs this will involve a change of employer and you may break the statutory rules on continuity of employment.
Working hours, office attendance and travel requirements
Full time roles consist of 37 hours per week.
This role is suitable for hybrid working, which is a non\-contractual arrangement where a combination of workplace and home\-based working can be accommodated subject to business requirements.
The expectation at present is a minimum of 60% of your working time a month will be spent at either your designated workplace (one of the locations cited in the advert) or, when required for business reasons, in another office/work location. There may be occasions where you are required to attend above the minimum expectation.
This role will require regular travel to Department for Transport locations (typically at least once per month) to facilitate in\-person delivery activity, including workshops, hackathons and collaborative sessions with stakeholders, which may involve overnight stays.
