The engineering Production Manager is responsible for overseeing manufacturing operations, ensuring efficient production processes, and maintaining high standards of quality, safety, and cost control. This role bridges engineering and production teams to deliver operational excellence, continuous improvement, and on-time delivery of products.
Key Responsibilities;
Production Management
- Plan, coordinate, and control manufacturing processes to ensure production targets are met.
- Monitor daily production activities and implement corrective actions where necessary.
- Optimise workflow, staffing, and resource allocation to improve productivity.
- Ensure on time delivery while maintaining quality and cost objectives.
- Lead and collaborate with engineering personnel to improve manufacturing processes.
- Support product design for manufacturability (DFM) and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Implement new technologies, systems, and equipment to enhance production efficiency.
- Oversee maintenance strategies to minimise downtime and improve equipment reliability.
- Manage, mentor and develop production and engineering staff.
- Foster a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Conduct performance reviews and identify training and development needs.
- Promote cross-functional collaboration between departments.
- Ensure compliance with quality standards.
- Drive a culture of continuous improvement.
- Monitor KPI’s, investigate root causes of issues, and implement corrective actions.
- Ensure all operations meet health, safety and environmental regulations.
- Control production costs and identify opportunities for cost reduction.
- Manage budgets for production and engineering functions.
- Reduce waste and improve process efficiency trough data driven decisions.
- Track and report on operational performance metrics.
- Lead process improvement initiatives.
- Implement best practices in manufacturing and engineering.
