Due to continued success, a great opportunity is now available to join our team as an Automation Engineer on a permanent basis to ensure the achievement of higher productivity through comprehensive design, development, implementation and improvement of machines and jigs to improve the productivity, cost and delivery of the MME assembly process’s and to provide an effective support solution the companies electrical and machine control systems in the event of failure, redesign or modification requirements..
We are looking for a highly motivated, enthusiastic, and proactive individual with a strong technical background and a positive, can\-do attitude. You will be able to work independently while also contributing effectively as part of a team in a fast\-paced manufacturing environment.
In this role, you will be responsible for supporting and improving automated manufacturing equipment, machine control systems, and production processes to maximise productivity, quality, and operational efficiency. You will play a key role in the design, development, implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of automated machinery, jigs, and fixtures used throughout our assembly operations. You will also provide expert technical support for electrical, automation, and control system failures, modifications, and upgrades.
Key Tasks:
· To provide a comprehensive, company wide and efficient diagnostic, repair and improvement service for the Assembly machinery, equipment etc.
· To identify opportunities for improvement in quality, cost and/or delivery by the design, development and implementation of equipment.
· To contribute in meeting the company and department objectives in minimising production downtime through effective fault finding and preventative maintenance activities.
· To demonstrate a can do approach to improving SMED, 5S, 5Tests, 5Wastes and Kaizen activity.
· To ensure when designing, developing, improving and/or implementing equipment that relevant procedures, critical checks and correct operations are facilitated at all times..
· Take on any reasonable request from the Engineering Manager or Assistant Engineering Manager in accordance with Makita’s direction.
· Ensure all work is carried out safely and in accordance with company procedures and standards.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
You should hold an HNCC/HND in mechanical, electrical and/or production engineering with a City \& Guilds or NVQ Level 3 in mechanical and/or electrical maintenance or equivalent.
GCSE at grade C or above in English and Maths (or equivalent qualifications)
Driven individual with proven knowledge of fault diagnostics on Mechanical and/or Electrical faults
Extensive working knowledge of PLC Programming \& Pneumatics,5s, Kaizan and TPM
Experience of complex engineering/electrical drawings.
Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
Demonstrated ability to work under pressure with minimal supervision when necessary to deliver key objectives.
Structured and pro\-active approach to problem solving, with attention to detail.
Ability to drive change and be transformational in your day\-to\-day work.
Flexible approach to job responsibilities and working hours.

You Annual Leave will start at 23 days pro rata plus bank holidays. At present we have set shut down periods (Spring, Summer, and Christmas), this will increase with service.
