Own the certification path that brings industrial humanoid robotics to market.
Your Role \& Responsibilities
---------------------------------
- Own and drive the full regulatory and certification pathway required to place AEON on the European market and, over time, global markets
- Map the complete regulatory landscape — product safety, functional safety, connectivity, cybersecurity, and AI regulation — and produce a clear, prioritized roadmap for commercial market access
- Build and maintain a robust product safety concept, including structured hazard analysis (FMEA or equivalent) and risk assessments aligned with the Machinery Directive, EU AI Act, and relevant functional safety standards
- Build and maintain audit\-ready Technical Files covering risk assessments, declarations of conformity, test reports, and all required supporting documentation
- Manage all product approvals, certifications, and recertifications — CE marking, Machinery Directive, RED, EN 18031, and others as applicable
- Own relationships with notified bodies, testing laboratories, and regulatory authorities
- Drive full project management of the certification programme — tracking actions, maintaining schedules, and resolving dependencies
- Communicate regulatory status clearly to engineering, operations, commercial, and leadership teams
- Identify and manage external partners; make informed build\-vs\-buy decisions on internal versus outsourced capability
- Help define and scale the compliance function as the company and product portfolio grow
------------------------------------------------
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field; additional qualification in regulatory affairs or functional safety is a strong plus
- Minimum 5 years of experience in product certification, regulatory compliance, or functional safety in a hardware\-intensive sector — industrial machinery, robotics, automotive, medical devices, or similar
- Proven track record of taking a complex hardware product through a full certification process in the European market, from initial gap analysis through to Declaration of Conformity
- Strong working knowledge of CE marking, Machinery Directive, and at least one of: RED, IEC 62061 / ISO 13849, EU AI Act high\-risk requirements, or EMC/EMV
- Hands\-on experience with hazard analysis and risk assessment methodologies — FMEA, HAZOP, or similar
- Experience structuring and producing Technical Files to a standard that survives external audit
- Strong project management discipline with the ability to define plans, track rigorously, and escalate early
- Clear communicator across both technical and non\-technical audiences
- Comfortable building processes from scratch in a fast\-moving, evolving environment
- Fluent English required; German or another European language is a meaningful plus
