Process Development Engineer (Graduate / Early Career)
Location: Runcorn, Cheshire
Type: 3 Months FTC
We're working with a specialist engineering manufacturer investing in the development of its finishing processes. This is an opportunity for a graduate or early-career engineer to take ownership of a real-world project and build hands-on experience in a production environment.
The Role
You will support and lead practical work to improve and develop finishing processes, working closely with experienced engineers on the shop floor.
Responsibilities include:
- Assisting in the development of new finishing techniques
- Supporting trials of materials, methods, and equipment
- Working closely with production teams to understand current processes
- Gathering data, analysing results, and suggesting improvements
- Contributing to the creation of standard processes and best practice
Candidate Profile
Essential:
- Degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Materials Science or similar
- Strong problem-solving mindset
- Willingness to learn and take ownership of a project
- Confident communicator, able to work with shopfloor teams
- Practical, proactive approach
- Placement or internship experience in manufacturing
- Interest in materials, finishing processes, or production engineering
- Ownership of a live engineering project early in your career
- Direct mentorship from experienced engineers
- Exposure to both technical and commercial aspects of manufacturing
- Clear development pathway as the role evolves
