AECOM is seeking an ambitious Senior/ Principal Project Engineer to join our dynamic and young Transportation team in Dublin. This is an exciting opportunity for candidates eager to take the next step in their career, delivering multidisciplinary infrastructure projects that shape the future of Ireland’s transport landscape.

You will play a leading role in the design and delivery of projects across roads, rail, public transport, greenways, and enabling works, working alongside a collaborative and innovative team.

We're seeking an enthusiastic and driven Senior or Principal Roads, Rail, Civil, or Infrastructure Engineer with industry experience to join our expanding team.

This is a chance to move beyond routine design and play a crucial role in delivering complex, high\-impact national infrastructure.

Your Role \& Responsibilities

  • You will be ready to take the next step in your career, delivering and coordinating design packages on complex infrastructure programmes.

  • Manage and lead on a diverse range of major Infrastructure projects.

  • Ensure all project deliverables meet AECOM quality standards and are managed effectively to time and budget.

  • Work seamlessly across multipleteams, in a lead role, interrogating outputs from other disciplines (e.g., drainage, structures, environmental).

  • Work directly with clients, local authorities, and stakeholders, guiding them through technical challenges.

  • Support and coach junior engineers, contributing to AECOM’s culture of growth and continuous learning.

  • Lead, manage, and mentor large project teams in the delivery of complex civil engineering projects, ensuring technical excellence and quality outcomes.

  • Oversee the preparation of project documentation, technical reports, and design submissions in accordance with Irish and European standards.

  • Act as primary point of contact for clients, contractors, and stakeholders, fostering strong relationships and ensuring clear communication.

  • Drive the development of planning applications, tender documentation, and construction supervision activities.

  • Conduct and review site inspections, surveys, and technical assessments to inform design and construction processes.

  • Ensure robust compliance with health, safety, and environmental requirements throughout all project phases.

  • Support resource planning, programme management, and risk mitigation strategies.

  • Participate in and lead multidisciplinary team meetings, providing expert technical guidance and input.

  • Champion innovation, sustainability, and digital delivery across all projects.

Qualifications Ready to push the limits of what’s possible?

*Here’s what we’re looking for:*

  • An Irish National Framework Qualification Level 8 (Honours Degree) or higher in Civil Engineering or related discipline. International applicants will hold an equivalent Degree recognised by the International Engineering Alliance (from a signatory of the Washington Accord).

  • Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline; Chartered Engineer status (or working towards) is highly desirable.

  • 7 to 12 years’ relevant experience in the design and delivery of major roads, major public transport, light rail, rail, or enabling works projects. Or similar transferable experience from water, energy, or utilities sectors.

  • Proven track record of leading project teams and delivering projects to programme and budget.

  • Strong knowledge of Irish and European design standards, planning processes, and statutory requirements.

  • Experience preparing and reviewing technical reports, drawings, specifications, and tender documents.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a fast\-paced, dynamic environment.
Desirable experience / Qualifications:

The following are areas of desirable skillsets and qualifications for the role:

  • Project Management Qualifications, such as PMP

  • Construction Manager Qualifications, such as CCM

  • NEC3/4 ECC Supervision Accreditation

  • Chartership, or close to Chartership in relevant professional body

  • OSHA Safety Certification
