HLTA (Full-time)

  • Location: Central Plymouth

  • Salary: Dependent on experience and qualifications

  • Start: Sept 2026

  • Temporary - 6 weeks initially

We are seeking a dedicated HLTA to lead a nurture class, focusing on delivering daily curriculum sessions alongside targeted wellbeing interventions. This full-time role offers the opportunity to make a significant impact on pupils' learning and development. Candidates with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) are welcomed.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Lead and manage a nurture class with a maximum of 9 pupils, ensuring a supportive and effective learning environment.

  • Deliver daily curriculum sessions as planned, alongside targeted wellbeing interventions informed by Boxall Profiles.

  • Work collaboratively with a supporting team consisting of 1 HLTA and 1 TA to facilitate a conducive learning atmosphere.

  • Conduct marking and other academic assessments as part of the role.

  • Utilise duty-free playtimes and lunchtimes for preparation and marking, ensuring readiness for each teaching session.

  • Address and support the specific SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) and Communication & Interaction needs of pupils, fostering an inclusive and adaptive educational setting.

Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Qualified HLTA status or equivalent educational qualification.

  • Candidates with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) are highly encouraged to apply.

  • Experience in managing or leading a classroom, particularly in a nurture or special needs setting.

  • Strong understanding of SEMH and Communication & Interaction needs in children.

  • Proven ability to plan and deliver educational content effectively.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with pupils, staff, and parents.

  • Commitment to professional development and learning, particularly in special education and wellbeing interventions.
