1:1 SEN Learning Mentor - Mainstream Primary SchoolLocation: Wolverhampton Contract: Full-Time, Term Time Only Salary: Competitive, dependent on experienceMake a Real Difference Every DayA welcoming and inclusive mainstream primary school in Wolverhampton is seeking a dedicated 1:1 SEN Learning Mentor to support a pupil with additional needs on a full-time basis.The school has a strong commitment to inclusion and prides itself on providing a nurturing environment where every child is supported to achieve their full potential. You will work closely with one pupil, helping them access learning, develop social skills, build confidence, and achieve positive outcomes both academically and emotionally.This role would suit someone who is patient, caring, and passionate about supporting children with Special Educational Needs.The RoleAs a 1:1 SEN Learning Mentor, you will provide tailored support throughout the school day, working in partnership with the class teacher and SENDCO to meet the pupil's individual needs.The child may require support with communication, emotional regulation, attention and concentration, social interaction, and accessing the curriculum within a mainstream classroom environment.Key Responsibilities

  • Providing dedicated 1:1 support throughout the school day

  • Supporting the pupil to engage in classroom activities and learning opportunities

  • Implementing strategies outlined in EHCPs and support plans where applicable

  • Encouraging independence, confidence, and resilience

  • Supporting emotional regulation and positive behaviour

  • Developing positive relationships to help the pupil feel safe, valued, and motivated

  • Assisting with social interactions and friendship-building opportunities

  • Working closely with teachers, the SENDCO, parents, and external professionals

  • Monitoring progress and providing feedback to the wider school team

The Ideal Candidate
  • Experience working with children with SEN, either in schools, care, youth work, or community settings

  • Knowledge of needs such as Autism (ASC), ADHD, speech and language difficulties, or SEMH would be beneficial

  • A nurturing and patient approach

  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills

  • Ability to adapt support strategies to meet individual needs

  • A genuine passion for helping children succeed
