Newent Doctors Practice has an exciting opportunity for a practice nurse to join our expanding semi\-rural practice in Newent. Newent is a small market town central for a Gloucester, Ross, Malvern, Ledbury, or Tewkesbury commute.
We are looking for an experienced practice nurse but are also willing to train the right nurse for a long\-term role. The successful candidate will join our nursing team and will be working alongside our nurse lead, practice nurses, healthcare assistants and phlebotomists to provide a range of nursing services to our patients.
We are offering a position of 28 hours per week across four days.
Salary is negotiable depending on qualifications and experience.
Please note you will be expected to support our enhanced access clinics and work a late every Thursday evening as part of your contractual hours and approximately 3 Saturday mornings a year for which you will be paid overtime.

Main Responsibilities
The following are the core responsibilities of the practice nurse. There may be on occasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks; this will be dependent upon factors such as workload and staffing levels:
- To support the Infection Prevention Control (IPC) lead and to work to the IPC Policy
- To assess the needs of patients ensuring the provision of healthcare is appropriate, incorporating evidence based practice
- Implement and evaluate individual treatment plans for chronic disease patients that promote health and wellbeing
- To identify, manage and support patients at risk of developing long\-term conditions, preventing adverse effects to patients health
- Provide routine nursing care to patients in accordance with clinical based evidence, NICE and NSF
- To diagnose and manage acute and chronic conditions as required
- To review patient medications to enhance compliance
- Co\-ordinate the provision of travel medicine services
- Maintain accurate clinical records in conjunction with existing legislation
- Ensure read codes are used effectively by all member of the nursing team
- Ensure appropriate use of the chronic disease registers
- Prioritise health issues and intervene appropriately
- To support the team in dealing with clinical emergencies
- Recognise, assess and refer patients presenting with mental health needs
- To implement vaccination programmes for adults and children
- Registered Nurse (RN) qualification with valid registration.
- Strong knowledge of anatomy and physiology.
- Proven experience in patient care, preferably within a clinical setting.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with patients and colleagues.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Strong organisational skills with attention to detail.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and training.

Pay: £18\.50\-£19\.42 per hour
