We are now looking for an experienced, dynamic, and motivated Practice Manager to lead the compliance and overall Governance of the practice. They will work alongside the Operations and Performance Manager.
The Role
This is a pivotal leadership role responsible for the day\-to\-day operational management of the practice and ensuring the effective delivery of safe, efficient, and high\-quality services.
The successful candidate will work closely with the GP Partners, clinical team, PCN colleagues, and external stakeholders to ensure the practice continues to develop and thrive in an evolving NHS environment.
The Compliance and Governance Manager will provide strong leadership across all aspects of the practice including workforce management, governance, compliance, finance, patient services, IT systems, and business resilience.
Main Responsibilities
The successful candidate will:
Work closely with existing staff, leads and Operational and Performance Manager.
- Oversee the day\-to\-day operations of the practice, ensuring smooth and efficient service delivery
- Provide leadership, guidance, and support to all staff, promoting a positive and high\-performing culture
- Lead on HR processes including recruitment, induction, appraisals, staff wellbeing, disciplinary and grievance procedures
- Develop workforce planning and succession planning processes
- Ensure compliance with employment legislation, CQC standards, safeguarding requirements, DPA18, and UK GDPR
- Oversee staff training and development, supporting robust training records and mandatory training compliance
- Support the achievement of QOF and enhanced service targets.
- Manage practice systems, operational procedures, and policies
- Lead on business continuity and resilience planning
- Manage premises, health \& safety, risk assessments, and facilities
- Act as the primary liaison with the PCN, ICB, NHSE, community services, suppliers, and external stakeholders such as PPG .
- Oversee patient services and lead the management of complaints and patient feedback processes
- Manage practice communications including the website and social media platforms
- Support practice growth and patient engagement initiatives
- Ensure effective management of IT systems and coordinate resolution of local IT issues
- Support strategic planning, reporting, and practice development
We are looking for an experienced and forward\-thinking leader who has:
- Previous management experience within primary care, healthcare, or a similar environment
- Strong leadership and people management skills
- Excellent organisational and communication abilities
- A sound understanding of NHS primary care operations and regulations
- Experience in HR management, governance, compliance, and operational leadership
- Financial awareness and experience managing budgets and contracts
- The ability to motivate teams and drive service improvement
- Excellent problem\-solving skills and the ability to manage competing priorities
- A commitment to high standards of patient care and staff wellbeing
